DESCRIPTION: FIRE RETARDANT - CLEAR P.U. SEALER
(it is the first step of the C.T.I. - Ciclo Trasparente Ignifugo)

SUGGESTED USE: Specially designed for furniture, chairs, doors, walls and all wooden surfaces in
general, everywhere fire prevention is a must: in schools, hospitals, hotels, theaters,
exhibitions, museums, in all those indoor activities where human life has to be
safeguarded against the sudden flash over of an accidental fire.
The peculiar formulation of this product modifies the reaction to the fire of the
wooden parts where this product is applied: while fire spreading is very quick when
wood is coated with conventional paints, fire spreading and thus smoke generation
are negligible when wood is coated with this Fire Retardant Cycle.
APPLICATION DEVICES: Airmix spray gun or curtain coater.
STORAGE: KEEP CANS TIGHTLY SEALED, IN A WELL VENTILATED PLACE, WITH
TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED BETWEEN 10° AND 30 °C.
SHELF LIFE: 18 MONTHS FROM PRODUCTION DATE, IF STORED AS ABOVE

WARNING: WHEN USING A CURTAIN COATER, VISCOSITY INCREASES VERY QUICKLY DUE TO

THINNER AS REQUIRED.

1) Veneer made with sheared wood chips linked with glues based on thermoplastic resin (reconstituded veneer).

GENERAL INFORMATION
To obtain the desired FIRE RETARDANCY ( Class 1), this Sealer has to be applied in two layers, each one
consisting of 150 g / sqm minimum, the second applied one hour after the first, then sanded and overcoated with 150
g / sqm minimum of OPNI11535, the FIRE RETARDANT - CLEAR P.U. MAT TOP COAT: final FIRE
RETARDANT paint cycle will consist then of 450 g / sqm.
How to get the Certificate " CLASS 1 " - Procedure used in Italy to certify FIRE RETARDANT PAINTS:
1) The retailer or the salesman orders to Akzo Nobel the quantity of sealer in kgs needed to coat the sqm surface to
be "fire retarded", calculating the quantity through the specific coverage:
(1 kg PF115 + 1 kg C102 + 0,2 kg DP169) cover 5,5 sqm (spray) or 6,5 sqm (curtain coater) and
(1 kg OPNI11535 + 1 kg C102 + 0,2 kg DP169) cover 11 sqm (spray) or 13 sqm (curtain coater).
2) The finished product warehouse of Akzo Nobel Wood sends the paint +the blank form: "PAINTERS’
STATEMENT" + the blank form: "REQUEST FOR CERTIFICATION"
3) The Customer - Painter fills up the "PAINTERS’ STATEMENT" and gives it to the owner of the painted objects
with also a copy of the Transportation Bill of the paints bought for this project.
4) The Customer - Painter also fills up the: "REQUEST FOR CERTIFICATION" and sends it, together with the copy
of the Transportation Bill of the paints bought for this project, to Akzo Nobel Sales Department.
5) Akzo Nobel Wood fills up the customized (and unique) certification document Class 1 for Fire Retardant paints
related to the sqm surface which could be sprayed with the whole paint bought, then he sends this document directly
to the final Customer.

According to present legislation, the efficiency period of the applied Fire Retardant product shall be NOT longer than
5 ( five ) years.

Both sealer and top coats can be considered as a low yellowing system.

TAKE CARE - BEFORE USE: This product may present a slight separation of the components in the cans after long
storage periods; please open totally the lid of each canister, then mix thoroughly the liquid with a paddle long enough
to reach the bottom of the can: proceed then to add hardener and thinner in the proper ratios.
