Position Statement
People cannot properly
recall an incident that
occurred in the midst of a
medical crisis.
A person’s cognitive
ability can be defined by
left or right brain
dominance.
A person can change
aspects of their
personality by focusing on to be more creative or logical
more right or left brained
tasks.
Support for Position
People cannot recall details
about an incident correctly
because of they focus on more
important details of the event
and block out the less
significant details. Also, after a
traumatic event they could have
damage to the brain that
interferes with memory recall.
Dissociation, a process in which
the brain essentially blocks out
the memory of an event, could
also interfere with traumatic
memory recall.
The brain is split between two
hemispheres, each with their
own association to specific
types of activities. Left brain
dominance is related to logical
and analytical thinking while
right brain dominance is related
to artistic and creative thinking.
By focusing on activities people
could change their personality
depending on the activities they
choose. For example, someone
could focus on practicing math
problems, a left brained task,
and eventually they could

After a traumatic event, victims
are likely to have flashbacks and
dreams that recall the memory of
the event, allowing them to
essentially relive it and gather
more information that they
didn’t notice beforehand.
Many people are both creative
and logical meaning that you
can’t sum their cognitive ability
up to just one side of the brain.
Also, most tasks use both sides
of the brain to complete not just
one side.
People can’t change their
personality by just focusing on
more logical or creative
activities. Many believe that
personality is inborn and people
just gain more traits as they
experience life.

should donate their brains
to science upon their
death
The medical community
should revisit its policy
toward how to treat stoke
survivors.
