Interpretation of Results

After conducting experiment 5 entitled “JFETAmplifier”, we were able to gather the

following data and results:
 For Table 5-1(DC Operation of JFET Amplifier), we have observed that the gate
voltage is approximately equal to zero, due to the gate voltage being directly
connected to the ground.
 Based from the gathered voltages, the gate-source voltage is the only negative
implying that the Junction-field effect transistor is operation on reverse bias.
 By observing the data from Table 5-2(AC Operation of JFET Amplifier), we can say
that the amplifier with a bypass capacitor has a higher output voltage compared to an
amplifier without a bypass capacitor.
 Since the amplifier with a bypass capacitor has a higher voltage output, the voltage
gain will then be higher compared to an amplifier circuit without bypass capacitor,
because the output voltage is directly proportional to voltage gain.
 Based from the graphs formed, we can observe a 180 degree out of phase of the input
from the output.
 With or without a bypass capacitor, there will still be a phase reversal on the graph of
a JFET Amplifier.

Conclusion
After conducting the experiment entitled JFET Amplifier and gathering data and results,
the following can be concluded:
A JFET Amplifier has the same circuit as a BJT. For DC operation of JFET Amplifier,
operates on reverse bias since the gate-source voltage is negative implying reverse bias. For the
AC operation, the output voltage for an amplifier with a bypass capacitor is greater than the
amplifier without a bypass capacitor.
Since a JFET Amplifier is similar to a BJT, it has three terminals namely source, gate and
drain with its corresponding BJT terminals emitter, gate and base respectively.
For AC cooperation on the JFET Amplifier, the gate terminal is used as input while the
drain terminal is used as output. For an amplifier with a bypass capacitor, the output voltage is
larger thus the voltage gain is also larger compare to an amplifier without a bypass capacitor,
thus output voltage is directly proportional to voltage gain.
For a JFET Amplifier, we have observed a 180 degree out of phase of the input from the
output.
A bypass capacitor does not affect the phase reversal of the graphs of a JFET Amplifier
based from the data.
