Abstract

During my research on a company that is being well known in the North America, Gulf of

Mexico, and other top companies in the business world is called Ecopetrol America. About

Ecopetrol company is a Colombian energy, it focuses on gas, oil, shareholders and investors. In

addition, we going to learn the different quality the company is using to be a successful in their

organization. What year it was built to still be here in the twenty centuries, what is the most

important strategy that took place for the company to still hold strong in the corporate world.

There are so many methods to learn from this company and become well organized as a leader,

business owner, and employee as well. By, reading this, it will bring the overall purposes of

assuring the company and help us clearly understand their organization improvement, forming

the vision, mission, goals and structure business.

The history of Ecopetrol is known to be called the Ecopetol America Inc. company.

Ecopetol company was created in 1948 and it was expanded in the area of North America, and

Gulf of Mexico. The company decided to build the business on a assets Tropical Oil Company

basic it upon activities in the oil chain as a state owned industrial as well as forming commercial

company, to administrating the responsible of the exploration and production of nation’s

hydrocarbon resources to the corporate. It also had expanded many ideas to performs products

that are used in the Ecopetol national oil company of Republic of Colombia. This company is

known to be the fourth largest in Latin American oil, and one of the top fourth- largest oil

companies in the world.

In a quote, “Ecopetrol also operates a wide transportation network of pipelines and multi-

purpose pipelines for transportation of refined products from refinery to wholesale

distribution points. The company operates in Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Panama”. (Nexis

Uni, 2017).

The Ecopetrol information explained, how the company function in the business outlined

in other counties as well. It included business operating around six regions namely, in the US,

Asia, Europe, Central America, and Caribbean. This explained, the whole background overview

of the company how it spread doubled the growth in production in recent years to move from

producing three hundred ninety-nine mboed. in other counties to do business and to become

diverse in the corporate world.

The Vision, Mission, Goal and Structure

First, we are moving forward with the plans the company Ecopetrol American Inc.

decided to gather information to manage their company’s relations with the ideas and how to

better the business moving forward in the future. The company vision is to prepare what coming

by 2020, Ecopetrol America plan is to become one of the top companies based the ideas on

reserves operating in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico. Through, the image of the vision option

will be recognized as a completive, socially and environmentally responsible company.

Second, plan that we going to explained is their mission to contributes the strategic goals

that were put in place for Ecopetrol Business group by exploring and developing commercial

hydrocarbon resources in North America, primarily focused on the overview foundation. About

maximizing shareholder value, sustainable development through environmental protection, and

employee commitment to excellence.

The third, plan base on the structure how the layouts arranged the patterned of how the

business function. The structure itself would become the review carried out between the year of

2014 and 2015 led to formulate, revise and evaluate. New structure scenarios have based criteria

of value create, sustainability, financial visibility and risk level. Along, the based structure is

redefined and being created has a new framework, also guidelines that will guide the course of

Ecopetrol Group. However, it mentions that it being used as a literature to estimate the energy

saving potential of an industrial sector and produced at a level including diffusion scenarios for

energy demand. These are the steps to that constantly changed into the guides of the structures of

the company.

Leadership Styles

In the leadership role inside the company of Ecopetrol America introduce the foundation

of how the business is organized in a business matter. The president of the Ecopetrol American

company name Mr. Carlos Portela. He had explained, his part of an industry that become highly

scrutinized by regulatory bodies. The business environment in which we operate is fast peace

and continually tests the integrity of professional, management executives altogether. Mr. Carlos,

ideas is that the tone must be set at the top and go through middle management by making ethical

behaviors part of the performance evaluation. The president had his own expectation is that the

decisions are made day to day do the reflect the correct application of the ethical values and

ethical commitment being used as a Code of Ethics. The business management team and middle

management to ensure they have the capability to be successfully discharge the responsibility to

guide employees in the proper ethical dilemmas, also the commitments of the organization. He

encourages everyone to recognize ethical issues when they do arise, even if in doubt, and report

concerns about unethical behaviors through the proper channels. However, he also endorses the

principle of becoming one of the organizations with one set of values.

In the textbook, in chapter one shown how a leadership play a big important role in every

business purpose in the environment world. For example, leadership involvements is creating

change, not maintaining the status quo. The changes sought are not dictated by leaders but reflect

purposes that leaders and followers want, a desired future or shared purpose that motivates them

toward this more preferable outcome. At its best, leadership is shared among leaders and

followers, with everyone fully engaged and accepting higher levels of responsibility.

The Leadership organization

The leadership has an Ecopetrol America owned by the Republic of Colombia is active in

the exploration and production activities, transportation of crudes and other refined products. The

leaderships role had to lead by example in accordance with the principles being used in the

company. The leader has to communicate to their work teams that obligation of abiding by the

ethical principles and regulations set out by Ecopetrol company for their performance of their

work responsibility. Another, example the leader has to obey by is monitor management and

verifying the application of the code principles, which are based on the need to mitigate business

risks. Also, the company discharge zero tolerance for behaviors that breach the principles or any

applicable regulations. Throughout, the concerning of the company being used the same outcome

of how the vision is being prepared by the coming of 2020. Ecopetrol America Inc plan is to

become one of the top forty companies based the ideas bought to mind to reserves operating in

the deep-water Gulf of Mexico. Through, the image of the vision option will be recognized as a

completive, socially and environmentally responsible companies.

In addition, I will conclude by summarize the overall view of Ecopetrol American Inc.

company. This company had layout the rules how a business is being used in a good example,

step by step how to build an organization way in the 1948 years to still hold strong in the twenty

centuries. The Ecopetrol America Inc, had a vision, mission, goals, and structure to diverse in the

corporate world. This company give the important skills of how to become a successful business
