TIME SEQUENCE OF LESSON ORGANIZATION

Safety: ​Be aware not to kick the ball at the wall
too hard or else it will come back at you, be
aware of the hard walls, and be aware of other
teams/ members of your own group when you
are shooting the ball
Informing:​ Shooting in soccer is used when
you want to score a goal, or pass a ball far,
typically over 25 yards.
Refining: T
In order to shoot a soccer ball you need to: S S
● Approach the ball and plant your S S
non-kicking foot next to the ball. S S S
● Make sure your kicking foot is cocked
back
● Follow through driving the laces of the
foot through the ball.
Demonstration: ​Teacher will give a
demonstration of the skill and ask if a student
wants to volunteer to give a demonstration of
the skill.
5-6 Transition: ​Students will go to their assigned
team and do a self warm up, they will start with T
a simple dynamic warm-up, and then go to a S S S S S
warm up that will involve a soccer ball. S S S S S
6-8 Warm-up: ​Teacher will Conduct a series of S S S S S
dynamic movements for students to do.
8-10 Activity #1: ​Students will line up and try and
shoot the ball at the mat on the wall. After each
student takes their shot, they will do it again,
trying to hit the mat at least ⅗ times.
Extension: Students will hit the ball as close to
the wall as possible.
10-11 Transition:​Students will form a semi circle
where we will debrief the skill we were doing,
and explain the next set of instructions.
11-18 Activity 2: ​Students will have 5 tries to hit the
wall and move back a cone each time. If they hit
the wall in the air they may move back, if not,
they must stay at their cone, after 5 tries they
will switch with the other team, the team that
gets the most players to the end wins the round.
Extension: Students hit the wall and move back, T
Students miss the wall, they move forward. S S
18-19 Transition:​ Students will form a semicircle S S
around teacher where they will go over how this S S S
skill can be used in gameplay
19-26 Activity 3​: Students will play a small sided
game where they must shoot the ball from
behind the penalty kick line in order to be
rewarded the goal.
29-31 Mini Closure:​ Students will form a semicircle
around teacher and talk about what is working
and what isn’t working, they will then go back to
the activity

38-42 Closure: ​Students will debrief the exercise and T


reiterate the skill cues, and how shooting can be S S
used in real life. They will talk about the S S
activities and how they can connect to soccer. S S S
