SHORT TERM INDEPENDENT STUDY
v  For Planned Time Off:

Please request STIS from attendancesv@oxfordchampions.com 3-5 days prior to


scheduled time off.

v  For Same Day Illnesses:

Please notify attendance clerk no later than 9:30am on the first day of the absence.

Contracts and assignments must be picked up at the end of the school day in the
office.

**Contracts, along with student’s work, must be returned to the teacher on the first
day back from STIS in order to receive credit.** (Each worksheet must be
initialed and dated.)

v  Homework Requests:

v  You can request homework by contacting the front office before 10:30 am or you
can email your child’s professor directly first thing in the morning.

v  Homework requests are not the same as Short Term IS. Professors are not
authorized to set up Short Term IS, it must be scheduled through the front
office.

v  I will not send home any classwork or homework that has not been taught. If
your child goes home at any point during the day due to illness I will catch your
child up when they return.

•  Supervision in the morning begins no sooner than 15 minutes


before class begins (8:15 am).

•  Please do not drop your child off before this time unless they
are attending an organized school activity.

•  If on campus at school dismissal, please wait for your children


at the lunch tables or in the front of the school.

•  Please wait until 3:00 pm to wait at the benches.

•  Please avoid meeting students in the hallways.

to volunteer for another category please let me know as soon as

NEW VOLUNTEER RULES


Step 1

Submit to the school’s main office the following documents:

-TB clearance

-Signed Volunteer Oath Form

Step 2

School will verify Safety & Security Clearances:

-TB Clearance is valid for 4 years

-TB Assessment good for 1 year

-Fingerprint

-Principal’s approval

Step 3

Once cleared, volunteers wil be issued a 2018-2019 badge that must be worn on campus at all times.

FINGERPRINTING
•  Fingerprinting by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) is required for the following volunteers.

•  Volunteer assignment involving contact or possible contact with students at school or on field
trips where there is a possibility a volunteer could be outside the presence of a certificated
staff member (teacher or administrator) even briefly

•  Chaperoning field trips, including after-school sports.

•  Coaching or assisting with special events, including dances, sports competitions, drama and musical
productions (sports teams, Kinder Circus, Cheer, etc)

•  Providing lunch-time volunteer assistance or eating lunch on campus with children when not
volunteering

•  The fingerprinting fee varies depending on place. The school does not pay this cost.

TUBERCULOSIS CLEARANCE
•  All volunteers must have an initial TB examination that consists of a
Mantoux Skin Test or a TB risk assessment performed by a
physician.

•  TB Mantoux skin test is good for 4 years. The risk assessment will
only be good for 1 year.

•  Documentation of tuberculosis clearance MUST be on file at the


school.

•  A chest x-ray is acceptable if required due to a skin reaction or a


medical circumstance.

BIRTHDAYS
•  Your Champion’s birthday will be celebrated by us in
class, however we do not do class parties for birthdays.
Please do not bring treats, you may take your
Champion out to a special lunch.

•  You may donate your Champions favorite book to our


class library and dedicate it to your Champion.

•  If you have invitations to pass out, there must be an


invitation for EVERY student, in our class, if given out
on campus after school.
