OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to do the following:
 Identify when and how Mother’s Day is celebrated.
 Tell the class about their mother or grandmother.
 Design and create a homemade Mother’s Day card.

RESOURCES AND MATERIAL: flash cards, worksheets, laptop audio device;

TEACHING TECHNIQUES: visualization, explanation, monitoring, drilling, conversation,
question-answer, mime and gestures;
STUDENT GROUPINGS: individual work, pair and group work;
INTERACTIONS: T-Ss; Ss-T; Ss-Ss, IW, PW;

WARM-UP: (5 minutes)
Aims: -to greet the SS;
-to mark the absentees;
-to relax the classroom atmosphere;
-to check previous knowledge;

Procedure: -T. greets the students; asks questions and words from the previous lesson

ACTIVITY 1: Holiday Introduction

(15 minutes)
We write these sentences on the board.
 It is a holiday to honor mothers.
 We give cards and gifts to our mothers.
 We say: Thank you! I love you! Happy Mother’s Day!
Aims: - to have the students copy them.
- To have the Ss understand the meaning
- To have the Ss listen and repeat the sentences
- -to let Ss know about Mother’s Day (when Mother’s Day is, how we celebrate it,
and why we celebrate it)

ACTIVITY 2: Mother’s Day Song (10 minutes)

Procedure: -T asks Ss to listen to the song I love my mommy.

-T writes on the blackboard the new words: mother’s day, heart, child, love, hug etc.
- T and Ss sing along the song a few times.

ACTIVITY 3: Mother’s Day card. (15 minutes)

Procedure: -Ss are asked to colour a card for their mothers. See appendix 2.
- Each Ss gets to receive a copy of the card
