COLUMN JACKETTING PROCEDURE

 1. Identify the corroded columns for jacketting and mark them with Id. Nos.

 2. Chip-off the cover concrete and loose concrete from the corroded columns to expose the
corroded rebars.

 3. Clean the exposed surface of concrete rubbing with steel wired brush and jetting with water

 4. Apply, rust clear(Dr. Fixit) solution over the exposed surfaces of steel and remove the shales
of rust etc., by steel brush and then wash the rebars with good water using paint brush.

 5. Then apply Corrosion Inhibitor (Cera Rebarcote/Dr.Fixit Epoxy Zinc Primer) over the
exposed rebars-one coat after another coat and then give one bonding coat over the exposed
concrete surface.

 6. Drill holes of 25MM dia and 75MM deep into the column concrete at 300MM C/C along the
longitudinal face of exposed column to fix the shear connectors as shown in the detail.

 7. The shear connectors are fixed by grouting with epoxy based grout chemicals like Lokset-P
from Fosroc.

 8. If the old rebars are corroded more than 50%, then compensation steel of 10MM Y should be
weld along the longitudinal bars with additional single legged stirrups.

 9. Fix the fabricated steel column (230MMx230MM with 6/12Y and stirrups 8Y@150MM
C/C ) over the corroded rebars either by welding at possible cornners to develop an integeral
action.

 10. Ensure that the shear connectors are jettinginto the jacket and weld it properly.

 11. The entire exposed surface should be coated with epoxy bonding agent Nitobond-EP from
Fosroc.

 12. Now the jacetting is ready for concrete. Make all necessary formwork arrangements within
the prescribed interval time after epoxy coating (usually within 30 minutes)

 13. Pour concrete grade of M25 or Micro concrete into the Jacketted column and remove the
formwork after 48hours.

OR

 14. Finally finish the cured surface of concrete with 12mm thick cement mortar 1:3 and cure it
for 4 days.

 15.The size of Jacketting column and its position of fitting as per the site condition may be
altered in consultation with the consultant in-charge
 16. Ensure Strict supervision to achieve the targeted result.

 18. Follow the prescribed guidelines and safety Norms while handling the bonding Chemical
