TEORÍA
Las dos formas significan “hay”. There is se usa con nombres en singular y con
nombres incontables y There are se usa con nombres en plural.

Afirmativa Negativa Interrogativa
There was There wasn’t Was there?
There were There weren’t Were there?

Se utiliza para decir lo que había o no en el pasado.

There was en singular y There were en plural.

A/ An. Se utilizan con nombres contables en singular. A se utiliza detrás de consonante y An

se utiliza detrás de vocal:There is dog in the park. There is an orange in the box.

Some: se utiliza con nombres contables en plural en oraciones afirmativas y con los nombres
incontables (los incontables son sustancias o materias indivisibles como los líquidos, harina, sal,
azúcar, madera, papel, conceptos como dinero, tiempo).

I have got some pencils / I have got some money in my pocket / I want some water / There is
some sugar in my cup.

Any: se utiliza en oraciones negativas e interrogativas con nombres contables en plural y con
los incontables.

Can I have some milk, please? / I don’t want any salt in my salad / Are there any apples in the
fridge?
No, there aren’t any students in the class.
