Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Engagement: To minimize distractions the Quizlet will be taken on Tablet/Computers with headphones and
when student has finished their previous Georgia Region’s work. It will be taken during a quiet classroom time
so students may concentrate.
Representation: By design, Quizlet can read text to learners allowing for an equal level in regards to hearing,
reading correctly questions. Additionally Quizlet can be done in other languages; as a teacher I can make this
quiz available in most of my student’s native languages.

Action and Expression: Quizlet allows for various studying and testing forms to help students of all learning
types to grasp information given

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

This SRT activity will take place at the closing of the Georgia Regions Unit. Prior to this activity students will
have completed a variety of activities, worksheets, interactive lessons, and reading logs that all pertain to the
Georgia Regions Unit. The teacher will have created an additional Quizlet solely designed to show the
students how to navigate this SRT. The teacher will interactively complete that Quizlet with the class, being
sure to show each step clearly and stopping to answer any questions that might arise. Previous to this the
teacher will have set up her class role into the Quizlet so students can do the assignment under their name
when ready.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐Assess prior knowledge ☐Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) X Summative assessment of content knowledge XTest preparation
☐Survey/Poll ☐Discussion starter ☐“Homework” collection ☐Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

This Quizlet is designed to help students review the Georgia Regions material. Students will be asked to study
flashcards, complete a matching game, explore the other tools if desired, and in the end complete the test.
Students are taking this Quizlet when done with previous review worksheet and just a few students at a time
(as classroom only has so many tablets/computers). This can be done over the course of two days with the
goal of ½ the class completing the quizzes each day. Other review activities/assignments will also be given
during those days so students not doing the Quizlet can stay occupied. During review days, the teacher will be
walking the room working with all students. Students needing help on Quizlet will simply need to raise their
hand and the teacher will quickly come over to assist the students. The teacher will also help students get
started so as to make sure they are using the correct format and name on the activity. Each student should
need no more than 5-10 minutes to complete their Quizlet. Students taking longer should be looked at to see
if the material/content is still not known to them or if behavior is preventing them from completing the task
timely.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
X Multiple choice ☐Multiple select XTrue/False ☐Yes/No
☐Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

XYes ☐No
☐Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
X Yes
☐ No
Why or why not? Being that this is designed as a review prior to a test or graded formative assessment,
feedback is necessary to help the student see where they are struggling/need help and to see if any questions
are confusing to them -- this aides the teacher in better designing a formative assessment and also allows the
teacher to see any trends in areas of struggle to see if more review is needed before formal assessment is
given.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? As each child finish their review they can continue to
work on the additional review activities/work. Students can raise their hands once they have taken the test

part of the Quizlet and converse with the teacher about missed questions, things to clarify, confused terms,
etc.

How will the data be used?

Data from this Quizlet will aide the teacher in designing a clearer formal graded assessment/activity. The
activity will also provide the teacher with needed information on any trends regarding missed questions
which could mean confusing word choice and/or a need for more review over material pertaining to the
question. From the data the teacher can make a decision if there is need for more review or if the class is
ready for a graded assessment on the Georgia Regions Unit. Additionally the data can aid the teacher in
helping individual students who may struggling with certain content areas. If the teacher sees this struggle as
the child completes the Quizlet, then during the remaining review class days the teacher may give that child
individual worksheets/activities designed specifically to aid them in their struggled area of content.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

The goal of this Quizlet is to assess where the class lies as a whole regarding their understanding of the unit’s
information. Additionally the goal is to also individually asses if a student is struggling with this unit and why
this might be (is ready maps difficult? are the names hard to learn because of pronunciation, etc.). This will be
a first time use of an SRT to asses end of unit knowledge and prior to a formal assessment. Hopefully it will be
a great tool in guiding the Teacher to finish up the unit or review a little longer.

Reflective Practice
The content of the Quizlet could always be added to and advanced if needed. Creating additional language
versions for ELL students would be ideal. Other visual aids besides the one map may help students who learn
better visually. A Quizlet could possibly be created prior to the start of the unit as well to see what knowledge
of the topic the class may already have obtained.
