I chose Civil Rights and Discrimination as my topic because it is one of the main focuses
as a future attorney. Not only in the past but presently, it seems that black americans have been
targets in american society. As a black American, I want to be able to clearly understand how
and why black americans are such a big controversy in the United States. I would like to explore
this topic more vividly so that in the future not only for clients but for my own personal life I
may take the correct initiatives to protect and sustain the black community and culture.
My personal belief as it relates to Civil Rights and Discrimination are: The black
community is racially profiled and discriminated against more so than other races. Often, there
have been individuals who have misjudged black persons based off of unreasonable sense.
Consequently, the black community suffers. There is a suppression of ideas and logical debate in
relation to black Americans more so than other cultures and persons. Research has shown that
other races, in particular, white Americans have committed the same crimes if not more than
black Americans. But that is almost never publicized. There is a lack of empathy, liberty, and
respect for the black community. I hope to find this information in discussion with various
persons of different ethnic backgrounds, along with media and historical studies.

the foundation of the United States:’ liberty, justice, and domestic tranquility for all’ persons but
seemingly not being carried out. What laws are presently being carried out in the United States to
ensure the justice, and protection for the black community? How do black americans live and
feel in a society that ensures freedom, equality, and peace for everyone else but them, and do
