Social Studies Standard: 1.SS.2.2.1 Describe ways people adjust to their environment

Objective/s: Student will be able to identify and describe at least 2 different examples through free write or drawing a picture of how people have adjusted to
their environment.
Vocabulary terms and definitions: Environment-the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.
Adapt- make (something) suitable for a new use or purpose; modify.
Climate- the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period.
Season- each of the four divisions of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) marked by particular weather patterns and daylight hours, resulting from
the earth's changing position with regard to the sun.
Technology Integration:
ISTE 2b: Students engage in positive, safe, legal and ethical behavior when using technology, including social interactions online or when using networked
devices.
The internet will be used to research an additional way in which humans have adjusted to their environment.
Four seasons song will be watched on YouTube.
Accommodations: 1.) Students with work with a partner on the worksheet partner reading. 2.) There will be a video that the children can watch instead of
the worksheet. It has the same information but in video and song format. 3.) Students can orally tell the teacher the identified ways people have adjusted to
their environment 4.) Teacher will read aloud the instructions to the students. 5.) Have a student draw a picture and write a sentence instead of free writing.
