2. Sequence System

A. The chapter sequence system uses a three-element number (XX-XX-XX) that refers to the
chapter, section, and item.

B. The sequence of chapters in this document is equivalent to the sequence used in an aircraft
recovery.

3. Contents

A. Chapter 1-00 - INTRODUCTION

(1) This section gives the general data for aircraft recovery. The basic information included
herein is:

(a) Number Equivalent (English and Metric);

(b) Aircraft General Data;

(c) Aircraft General Arrangement;

(d) Aircraft Structural Section;

(e) Aircraft Stations;

(f) Aircraft Door Clearances;

(g) Aircraft Servicing;

(h) Aircraft Recovery Team.

B. Chapter 2-00 - SURVEY AND PREPARATION

(1) This section recommends recovery procedure sequences. The recovery starts with an
inspection of the airplane and the area adjacent to it.

(2) The CG (Center of Gravity) can be changed by moving, adding or removing cargo, fuel or
large components of the aircraft. If you change the CG, a stable aircraft can move
hazardously.

(3) Removing the payload from the aircraft decreases the aircraft weight. After the passengers
are off the aircraft, remove the baggage and the cargo from the lower cargo compartments.
You must do this before leveling, lifting or moving the aircraft.

(4) The defueling is an important step. The total fuel weight can have a large effect when the
aircraft is in an unusual attitude. Also, when you move the aircraft to a level attitude, the
fuel can change the aircraft CG during the recovery operation.

C. Chapter 3-00 - STABILIZING/LIFTING THE AIRCRAFT

(1) This section gives the procedure and describes the techniques for steadying the aircraft
during the recovery operation. Methods for lifting the aircraft considering different condi-
tions, such damaged landing gear, are shown in this section.

D. Chapter 4-00 - MOVING THE AIRCRAFT

(1) This section describes the methods and equipment required to transport a damaged
aircraft. It includes tethering points, and shows supports for damaged landing gear.

E. Chapter 5-00 - TOOLING and EQUIPMENT

(1) This section gives the groups of equipment and tools necessary to do the aircraft recovery:

(a) General Equipment and Materials;

(b) Special Tools (GSE);

(c) Local Sources for Recovery Equipment;

(d) List of Manufacturers.
