Abstract
At present, technology in the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas has grown rapidly. This is very
necessary considering that the price of oil and gas is increasing so that it needs exploration of new oil
wells and increased production of existing oil wells. Therefore, improvements in the field of technology
play an important role in this matter. Geosteering is the act of adjusting the borehole quinckly. Most of
the horizontal wells that were successfully drilled are geosteered. Geosteering technology has been
developed to identify lateral drilling wells. Common geosteering technology used is gamma ray,
mudhogs, cutting, XRD / XRF, log image, resistivity forward modeling, resistivity inversion, and data
integration. These tools and technology are the most popular tools and technology in the oil and gas
market where this technology has a simple and effective performance. These tools and technology can
also increase oil and gas production quickly and precisely. Therefore, the right geosteering tools and
technology can optimize the placement of lateral wells.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION

The terms Measurement while drilling

(MWD) and Logging while drilling (LWD) are
related, within the context of this section, the
term MWD refers to directional-drilling
measurements, for decision support for the
smooth operation of the drilling, while LWD
refers to measurements concerning the
geological formation made while drilling. In
consequence, The method in applying
geosteering uses (Logging while drilling) LWD
which is the development of the MWD. LWD
is a better method compared to logging
(conventional drilling with vertical drilling.
Drilling while logging (LWD) is a logging tool
delivery technique that is well into the borehole
as part of pollution (BHA). LWD is the drilling (a)
process by taking data log. This geosteering
technology is led by a geologist who is
commonly called a geosteer. In accordance
with this process, the geosteer is short of
monitoring the search for reservoirs or as an
opportunity for the hydrocarbon basin to be
found.
