Journal Title: Design of an embedded inverse-feedforward biomolecular

tracking controller for enzymatic reaction processes
(Computer Chem Eng. 2017 Apr 6; 99: 145–157.)

Review:

In this journal, they tackled how a biomolecular controller that allows tracking of
required changes in the outputs of enzymatic reaction processes can be designed and
implemented within the framework of chemical reaction network theory.

1. The results here are obtained by using a lot of approximations. The different
response diagrams gave a good gist of how the system will work. It would have
been better if they had actual trials to compare.

2. More resources regarding chemical reaction network theory. It would also be

informative if they added thermodynamic descriptions and incorporate it to the
system.

3. More resources regarding Retroactivity and other similar studies that uses
retroactivity as basis in the dynamics of the system.

4. Retroactivity may have been incorporated strongly to quantify the way that
interconnection of two modules alters their dynamics with respect to their behavior
in isolation. Because in this study retroactivity is assumed to be zero.

5. It is not clear how the mathematical framework is connected and the use of
uncommon symbols makes the mathematical description harder to comprehend.
They did not take into consideration the intermediate products and assumed to
have formed the exact product.

6. Overall researchers did a good job in giving examples from biology that falls in the
control scheme that is introduced.
