Strengthening Strategy: : CS2: Fine Motor In our last intervention session with
Finger Encourage child Development Masyn. We coached Masyn’s mother and
Dexterity to strengthen (Look at what my dad in picking up the pipe cleaners and
grasp of hands and fingers poking them through the holes. Masyn
can do)
thumb/forefinger was able to complete this activity. We
(gluing small then coached his parent’s in putting
pieces of paper, buttons in the container in the
peeling/ sticking corresponding button size holes. Masyn
stickers, picking struggled at first but was able to complete
up small objects this activity as well. We have decided to
with fingers). change our difficult activity to an at level
activity. Masyn was very focused during

these activities.
G18 Age 36

Months CI6: picking up the pipe cleaners and sticking
Manipulates them through the corresponding color
Small Objects holes. We will also use the button
with Ease (Strings containers and have Masyn place different
beads, fits small size buttons in their corresponding size
objects into holes. Masyn’s mother or father will be

his attention.

At Level: We will coach Masyn’s parents in

taking a 3D puffy sticker off of a sticker
page and putting it on a piece of paper.
Masyn’s mother or father will be
positioned in front of him to capture full
attention.

Difficult: We will coach Masyn’s parents in

taking a regular sticker off of a sticker
page and putting it on a piece of paper.
Masyn’s mother or father will be
positioned in front of him to capture full
attention.

Sensory The integrated sensory experiences in this plan include sound,

and touch. Masyn will be exposed to singing and song. The song
provides sound as Masyn’s mother or father sings. Masyn will
experience different textures as grasps the paper and stickers.

Literacy While Masyn is in front of his mother or father. She or he will be
singing to him and keeping his attention. This will provide her
will eye contact and visual focus utilized in mimicking language
and keeps Masyn’s attention. Literacy is also being integrated by
providing new vocabulary.

Creative Expression While Masyn’s mother or father is singing she will have different
facial expression to interact bringing out mimicking responses in
Masyn. Creative expression is integrated by putting the colored
pipe cleaners and buttons in the different holes. Creative
expression can also be integrated by choosing the stickers that
Masyn want and having him place them where he wants.

Strategies:
1. Fine Motor: Provide the opportunity at least two times each day during your normal routine.
Such as clothing changes to have Masyn zip up a jacket or button up a shirt or pants.
2. Fine Motor: While the family is in the kitchen doing dishes or homework, his mother, father, or
brothers can direct Masyn to the fridge with magnets. They can show Masyn how to take the
magnets off and put them back on. This will continue to strengthen fine motor muscles and
skills.
3. Communication: Provide opportunities for wait time after Masyn is asked a question by either
the parents or brothers. This is to ensure that Masyn has adequate time to process the question
being asked. Make sure eye contact is maintained while counting 5-10 seconds in your head.
4. Communication: While feeding Masyn, his mom or dad could enunciate some of the words by
saying things like “Masyn, do you want some m-m-more?” This will help Masyn continue to
learn the sounds of words.
