OPR.
OPR: Backlog W13Q3: Lewis Tanzos - Many people in our local area are
getting to review only 3-5 portals a day in OPR before
getting "come back tomorrow". They're using a single web

our job in OPR
OPR: Data W22Q207: Gary Tolley - Grogyan - Can you please give us
a quick run down of worldwide OPR stats since it became a

OPR: Edits W10Q24: Arthur Lemoine (Letiteuf55) - Hi, do you think Edit
portal should be reviewed in OPR by agent ? It would be
great !
OPR: Interface W13Q32: Vladimir Ostapiv - There would be very helpful to
have portal submit date visible in OPR because currently
people probably assume the portal is wrong if it's absent in
street view. But some countries street view is quite rarely
updated.
OPR: Interface W13Q94: keith black - Hi Andrew. Is there an app coming
for opr that we can use rather than using a webpage on the
go and the app can push portal review notifications that are
in agents selected area(s) that have came available to

OPR: Interface W14Q1: Josh Stock - I have a suggestion for a feedback
mechanism in OPR...will you forward the suggestion to the
dev team?
OPR: Interface W19Q19: Laurent “X6996” - Could location changes by
other OPR reviewers made visible for the current reviewer.
Maybe by a dot or a heatmap. This would maybe reduce
the amount of portals rejected due too wrong location.
OPR: Interface W19Q20: Drew Dondero - Can the OPR team rearrange
the ratings so that the questions/ratings are in some sort of

OPR: Interface W19Q46: Alexis RODET - Will you make an OPR mobile

Pokémon Q103: Herik Super - Dear Andrew. In our region we see a lot
Crossover of pogo players who are playing together just to reach lvl 10
in order to create pokostops. Personaly these players do
not enrich our communitie. Dont you think Nia should not
make all new portals a pokostop of gym on default?
Poor rating Q63: Randy Booz (Wyndmyr) - What would you do if you
always accurately and fairly rated your mom's lasagna, but
suddenly one day your mom's reviews were called 'poor',
and no matter how you review her lasagna from that point
forward, she only said your reviews were 'poor', they didn't
count, and she would never do anything to tell you why?
Portals: Edits W25Q51: Kadah- With portal edits moving to OPR, are
invalid reports going to remain an NIA only review? What
about photos submissions?
Portals: W11Q86: Leon Zhao - We know that Ingress has been
Invalid running for a long time. Many portal objects in real world
are removed or destroyed now. Are these portals still valid
or they should be reported as fake portals?
Portals: W16Q5: Sean “Vire5cent” Anderson - There used to be a
Invalid section on the support pages for reporting invalid portals,
which has been removed; but does the line "Please only
report Portals that are on private residential property.
Portals on other types of private property, such as a
corporate campus with access only for employees, are still

Recon Badge Q6: Jan Kulle - Are you planning or would you consider any
additional incentives for people making a lot of contributions
in OPR? The Recon badge is insufficient - I've done
thousands of reviews for the sake of others but get little to
no responses on my own submissions in kind.
Rejection Q60: Robin Daemen - In the october 2017 AMA (and again
in the April 2018 and July 2018 AMA), you said that
rejection emails would get a more detailed reason instead
of the current email which lists some reasons why it might
get rejected. Any updates on that?
Rejections Q26: Plymouth Ansbergs - When will OPR start including a
list of WHY we are rejecting a portal? It would be useful
feedback to submitters if they knew what they were doing
wrong. The response email could include whatever the
most selected reason is, or the top two.
Review areas Q75: Karlo Vranješ - i seen some people switch their Home
Location on OPR to somewhere where they do not
live/work like switching from Europe to USA.Mostly players
do that to get faster points for Recon medals. Is that against
the ToS?
Review range Q52: Aline P. - Question regarding OPR : I've now a lot of
portal to check on location outside my play area and outsite
the location I selected as 1st/2nd. Why ?
Review: Q88: Myray - In previous amas you said its ok to have
Access portals in closed areas just because i cant reach the portal
doesnt mean others cant. I can live with that if the faction
who controls the portal isnt some kind of douchebag. Now
to my question how can it be that nia ops say a portal in an
closed area is fine where taking photos is forbidden?
Review: Q66: Fernando Roberto (FeExred) - Portals that may
Access interfere with the operations of fire stations are in list of
"please don't submit". Portals in sea rescue bases need to
respect the same rule? Especially because they also can
disrupt rescue operations.
Review: W14Q11: Barcode Nem0oo - Hi, in last AMA you said that a
Access fountain surrounded by water isn't reachable via safe
pedestrian access, therefore isn't a good portal candidate.
But you also said in a previous AMA that underwater portals
already existed. Now, I guess one can not walk and touch
those either, he'd have to swim. What's the difference
between swimming to a fountain and swimming or diving to
some underwater object ?
Review: W14Q23: Juano (Juano) - What happens with portals on
Access military zones or on closed residential communities? They
are inaccesible, and reporting them haven't worked. Can
you help me?

Review: W20Q54: Tanya Dixon - In the guide, it says that little free
Residential libraries should be rejected if they are on private property. If
they are located on a home's front lawn, but reachable from
the sidewalk, would that be considered "private property" in
the spirit of the guide?
Review: W20Q67: Fred Espenscheid - Should public easement be
Residential considered private property for opr purposes if it is directly
in front of private property but still between the sidewalk
and the street? A portal on a public easement could easily
be ultrastriked and captured by an agent walking down the
sidewalk without any trespassing on private property
occurring.
Submission: Q38: Joe R. - It's often been said that portals should be
Density judged more leniently in a lower density area. Should this
apply to a large portal sparse park or hiking trail located in
the middle of an otherwise average density area?
Submission: W15Q42: Leandro Quevedo - Hello Andrew. I have a
Density question about the opr and the option to create new portals.
In my town there is a church that got a lot of statues of
saints (picture below) everyone it is different from the
others, and we don't know if we could submit and the same
for approves. I'm not saying sending the 100 statues. But a
lot of them are really good ones. Well, hope your answer to
share with the community. greetings from Argentina
Submissions Q59: David Fuller - I've asked before and been told "if you
got a confirmation email, your submission will be
processed." But I've been waiting for over 3 years for some
of my portal submissions to be processed! Can you please
find out what is going on with pre-2015 portal submissions?
I have 8 in queue.
Submissions Q78: Bertje P - Since a week or 2 I am not receiving any
emails regarding submission/edits/photos. I do receive
attack mails and there is nothing in spam box. I don't know
is Portal actions from the game are send now. Opr status is
still great so that's no issue I guess. Could you check or
have someone check?
Submissions Q14: Juan Sanchez - Lately, some times, when we send
portal submissions, we don't get the confirmation email, but
those sent count for the limit we can send. Can you, please,
take a look, or ask someone, on it? Thanks a lot :)
A32: I think in an ideal world this may be a good idea. We would have
to really think it through and give it some thought though before we
implemented something like this.
A145: I don't know about kicking people from the community, but, I did
check and NIA OPS is active in that community and have made posts
in the last couple of days.
W4A17: I had a conversation with NIA OPS about this. They are going
to review their processes and ensure things are not going missed.
W6A32: They are done reviewing their process and have put
processes in place to ensure things don't get missed. Ping me and
NIA OPS on your appeal. It might just be a problem of human error.
A51: There is not an update that can be provided publicly at this time.
But know that there are things being planned and developed.
A15: NIA OPS guidance is, “As long as it meets our criteria (has
historical/cultural significance) and does not obstruct emergency
facilities, it can be accepted.”
A43: NIA OPS says, “This is getting fixed - soon! The Help Center will
go through a major rewrite. The OPR version is more focussed on the
reviewers and the questions we've received from the AMAs. Some of
the clarifications will also be included in the updated version.”
A23: I spoke to our OPR team, their response was, “Consider they the
same for OPR.”
A3: NIA OPS recommends giving a Portal a one-star if the faces are
recognizable or the focus is on the people rather than the portal
candidate.
A8: I spoke to NIA OPS and they said, if you come across candidates
that do not fall under the acceptance criteria, but feel they should be
included in the Portal Network, share examples in the Google+ OPR
Community
(https://plus.google.com/communities/109209511922265238865).
They'll evaluate and update the criteria if needed.
As a reminder, the guide has examples of how the Criteria applies to
specific candidates: https://opr.ingress.com/guide
A61: The OPR Team said if you suggest some new ones in the OPR
Google+ Community they will review them and add them
https://plus.google.com/communities/109209511922265238865.
A234: There is a really cool local comic book store near me. The
second is a local pizza place... nah maybe a hyper local donut shop. I
can't choose. I have a lot of keys I keep for cool little places.
A100: Depends on the historical/cultural significance. Check the
Portal Criteria page for details.
A22: NIA OPS says, unless there's something that ties back the new
Portal to the original Portal, you should submit a Takedown request.
A10: Either sound fine as long as they meet the portal candidate
criteria.
W8A1: As long as they meet the criteria for being portals I don't see
why not.
A1: I spoke to NIA OPS, they said, “Depends on the Portal candidate.
If the candidate is associated with the business and meets our criteria
(for example a hyper-local cafe), this would be ok.“
A59: According to NIA OPS, these should be given a one star and
they will add this to the OPR Guide.
A5: According to NIA OPS, “If it is only for K12 age children, it should
be rated with a one star. If it is for adults and kids it can be rated
based on the other criteria.” They also add, “We are updating the
guide based on these questions and discussions we see in the OPR
G+ Community. Post in the G+ Community if you have not already.”
https://plus.google.com/communities/109209511922265238865
A58: Good idea. I'll pass it along. Can you share with me and NIA
OPS some of your example rejections?
A63: Spots that showcase local history, flavor and culture and that
make your city/neighborhood unique.
A79: Not necessarily! You may have noticed Portals inside buildings -
think transit stations, museums.
A263: Submit them and let the wisdom of the crowds figure it out.
W5A9: That is really really subjective and hard to answer using broad
categories.
A66: NIA OPS says, “Only if they have any historical or cultural
significance.”
A27: NIA OPS states that signs are preferred, even if they are
somewhat uninteresting and generic photos of Athletic Fields can be
given a one star.
A76: NIA OPS says that, “If it falls under the category of Art, 5 stars on
“Should this be a Portal” question.”
A31: There have been about 238k portals submitted since it opened to
the public.
A27: In some areas we are still processing the backlog in addition to
new submissions. Yes, overall we are keeping up!
W11A22: Reporting and editing are two different things. I'm not that
familiar with how editing works. It doesn't seem to be a factor in
reporting though.
A64: I think by the time this is published you’ll have your answer.
Enjoy the edits!
A10: We are being a bit cautious with the initial portal edits, verifying
the workflow, and making tweaks as we monitor things. However, the
OPR Team also told me that you should start seeing more and more
edits going live in the coming weeks.
A25: I talked to the OPR team. They are able to confirm that many
edits have gone live. Like Portal submissions, edits require votes to
reach a decision. Once a decision has been reached, you will get an
email about it.
A42: NIA OPS says that they are aware of the issue and it has already
been addressed.
A64: NIA OPS suggests that if you have not received an email about
the edit yet, that the edit probably hasn’t received enough votes to
reach a decision. Sausages… I don’t really like boiled sausages, so I
grill them. Steaks can be cooked any number of ways and still come
out delicious.
A34: Are you talking about the size of the logo? Yeah, it should
probably be larger.
A58: I would love to pass along any feedback you have directly to the
OPR team. Please reach out to me on Telegram. For appeals, we are
working on it. In the meantime, if your candidate is rejected, NIA OPS
recommends resubmitting after improving the title/description or the
image.
A100: Currently, it sort of is that. I frequently forward questions to the
teams to either help inform me as to what the correct response should
be or to verify the response I wrote is factually accurate.
A54: I do believe that things are working pretty good. Are there areas
that can and will be improve? Yes. Software development is an
iterative process.
A35: I will see if NIA OPS has any updates for the support site.
A21: NIA OPS recommends that you rate these with a one star..
A34: I don’t have a date. I’ve confirmed it is being worked on. So……
soon™
I don't have an eta, but the OPR crew is working on it.
A75: All submissions go into OPR. We are aware that some are not
being reviewed and will have a solution for those eventually. I would
not resubmit.
A50: Yes.
A10: Not since the last time I asked about it. I think the developers are
still working on a solution.
A47: Wait for now.
A32: I can only tell you what I know and that is the OPR team has said
they are working on a solution for those portals.
A1: It’s possible these Portals may not have received enough votes to
reach a decision. We don’t have a timeline on the when the resolution
will be implemented to share at this time.
A57: They may not have received enough votes to reach a decision.
A84: Not so much an update. But things are being worked on.
A3: I spoke to the OPR team. By the time this AMA is published you
should already have started to see Portals that were previously in
“limbo” come online.
W7A12: What are the measures of success that we are talking about?
If we are measuring success based on a reduced backlog and new
portals being created - then yes.
A63: NIA OPS believes this issues was fixed. They are going to
double check on it though. Thanks for flagging it.
A21: Since NIA OPS does not have the local knowledge it is
something that only OPR agents can provide. We think that’s pretty
valuable.
W11A56: This is a bad idea for many reasons and the system can tell
when this occurs.
A37: No.
W11A24: While I think this is a neat idea and will certainly pass it
along. It doesn't seem like something that would get prioritized over
Ingress 2.0 in terms of resources allocated for it.
A3: We are working on tweaking and fixing things regarding the "come
back tomorrow" message.
W2A2: I've been told the backlog should be cleared within the next
couple of months if everything continues at the same pace.
W4A2: I know we said about a third a couple of weeks ago. That was
a rough estimate and slightly inaccurate. I've been told we are at 36%
of the backlog as of today.
W9A12: No.
A198: I don't have any statistics to share at this time. I'll try to grab
some for the next AMA.
A207: I don't have access to this information currently. I'll try to get
some stats for the next AMA.
A1: I'll definitely forward it on. They also read these AMA's so I'm sure
they saw the feedback already. But good idea.
A46: If there’s a memory leak we’ll try to find it but we don’t have
plans for this as of now.
W3A5: I think you can skip a portal by simply refreshing the screen to
get a new portal. It might be tied to a timer. I’m not 100% certain. But I
know you essentially request a new portal that way.
A52: I do apologize about the wait. We had an issue with the shipping
forms and translations we had to fix. I don't know that they will be
received before the November anomaly. But they should arrive shortly
after.
A51: I'm not sure I have enough information to make an informed
decision. Is the building physically the same or did they demolish and
build a new one? What changed? Just the sign?
A13: The accessibility rating should always be about be for the actual
location of the object.
A88: I'd love to be able to answer this question. I just don't have the
knowledge of OPR to do so.
A5: No, the photo quality can be taken into account in your first
impression when answering “Should this be a portal?”. An otherwise
acceptable photo that is just low quality will be able to be replaced
with a better photo in the future.
A15: The team is looking into it.
A16: NIA OPS says, photos may get removed if they do not meet
criteria or the wrong photo was added (OPR duplicates). Will need
more details before we can comment on a specific incident.
A9: Agreements will not count towards the badge while you are in
poor standing. Keep analyzing to the best of your ability and follow the
criteria to recover.
A12: Any agreement that occured while your performance rating was
Poor will not count towards your Recon medal. To improve your rating,
review the training materials and re-evaluate how you are analyzing
candidates based on the criteria.
A28: From the FAQ: Performance may also decrease if abuse of OPR
is detected. If your score is poor please take the time re-evaluate how
you are analyzing candidates based on the criteria.
A40: This isn’t something we can comment on. Adhering to the
guidelines is the best course of action.
A10: The best advice I was told is to slow down, and rate every
criteria for a Portal on its own merit.
A64: There are a lot of things that go into calculating the radius and
the distance may differ from location to location.
A72: NIA OPS says it is based on the candidates they analyze, not
your submissions.
A28: If you accidentally set your hometown OPR will allow you to
change it one time without needing to contact support. Your bonus
location can be changed after 1 year.
W2A10: File a request via the help center and we'll take care of it.
A16: We are not currently planning to open the test if you've failed it
twice.
A4: At this time there is no plan to allow a third chance to take the test.
However, in the future this may become possible.
A176: You aren't allowed to access it because you failed. The failure
indicates you need to brush up on the guidelines and obtain more
knowledge.
A26: Yes, this provides Niantic with extra data about the candidate
that may be taken into account when a decision is made.
A42: Sure thing!
A15: I'm not entirely sure that this is needed with the Key Lockers
being in the game.
A17: That's a very interesting idea and makes sense. I've passed it on
to the team.
A8: That's not a bad idea. I have no idea what the level of effort is to
implement this though. But it could be good feedback.
A15: Yes. This has been discussed and I believe should be happening
soon so emails make a bit more sense. Such as getting an email
stating something is a duplicate or too close. The new notification will
have only one reason as far as I understand it.
A4: I've been told the language will be clarified soon.
A53: NIA OPS says, usually they are rejected because they do not
meet the criteria. If it's a duplicate or rejected because it's too close to
another Portal, the rejection email mentions that. For everything else,
check the Ingress Portal Criteria and resubmit with a better
title/description/photo if you think it's a valid candidate.
W12A3: Anywhere from 24 hours to a week.
A30: Great suggestion. For now, you can scroll down to the text box,
add your comment and then grant it a one-star review.
A72: It can only be read by NIA OPS. [We can confirm we receive
your comments even when you submit 1 star reviews]
A36: The OPR team says, we are in the process of changing and
upgrading our systems to provide improved service. The way things
function today may not be how things work tomorrow.
A11: This is on the OPR roadmap. I don’t have an exact date for you.
But it will be coming at some point in the future I was told.
A63: Order more of her lasagna and keep eating it because it is THAT
good. Send me your information via Telegram and I’ll kindly ask the
OPR team to look into. Sounds like something that might benefit from
additional research.
A6: There is a feature coming that may help with this. More to come.
A9: I'll be honest, I don't know. I'm not privy to that sort of information.
A29: Without knowing the specifics, NIA OPS guesses that this
probably happened because the Portal at the correct location did not
have pedestrian access or no longer existed at the location. They
recommend that you use the G+ Portal Appeals community to post an
appeal and they’ll look into it.
A17: I would use the Portal Appeals Community for this and tag NIA
OPS in your post.
A28: Each location submitted has some significance for the local
community. It’s possible the original location was a hyper-local spot
and the new one would have to be evaluated afresh. In this case, if
the original restaurant no longer exists at the location, we would retire
the Portal. Use the scanner to report this Portal as invalid and feel
free to submit the new restaurant for review.
A51: NIA OPS and the OPR team says for now only edits are being
implemented.
W11A86: They should be reported as invalid.
A65: If you notice any invalid Portals, please report them via the
scanner and we’ll review them.
A7: These are two different unrelated topics. One is about TOS
violations and the other about Portal criteria.
A23: I am not sure that this would solve anything. I could see a
scenario where a property owner or manager submitted a removal
request and then has Agents showing up on their doorstep to pleade
their case and request they contact us to reinstate things. I
understand what the end goal is but personally don't think this is the
best solution.
A93: They are removed after a decision is made but in some cases
can still appear briefly for a very short amount of time.
A25: Edits to Sponsored Portals are vetted by the sponsor before they
go live. For all other Portals, as long as you have received the
acknowledgement email, you don't have to resubmit.
A58: If your invalid Portal report has been rejected, use the Portal
Appeals community to provide any additional info on the candidate
including images and proof of the removal of the object.
A69: We accept invalid Portal reports only via the scanner; it is setup
to send us the information we need to review the invalid Portal
reports.
A92: Seems like a good idea to me.
A30 There are many factors. Who submitted the request. What type of
portal is it. Where is it located. These are just some examples.
A32: I am told that the faction, and how many reports are submitted,
do not play in to the decision to remove a portal. We follow up
individually and research all requests.
A35: While this would be a good feature. I don’t know if the cost
benefit is there. Meaning the cost to make a system to inform a small
amount of people about why something was removed is greater than
the benefit. There are also privacy concerns as well that come into
play when an owner contacts us to request a removal. The last thing
we would want is a person being harassed over their request. So as it
stands, this is not something we are actively pursuing.
A85: NIA OPS says, the help center. They do not need an Ingress
account.
A75: We agree.
A266: I would have to ask for clarification fron NIA OPS. I don't have
an answer for you at the moment. However, I wouldn't try to lawyer it.
If they said no, I'd take it as, no, for now.
A41: According to NIA OPS you should reject hole markers and other
locations on the course. They can be accepted if they are in areas
where agents can sit and socialize (like cafes or club areas). If it's for
the park (and not for the golf course inside the park), submit the
signboard for the park instead.
A40: Great question. There are some examples of what to do and what not athttps://opr.ingress.com/help.
A4: Let me see if I can get NIA OPS to clarify this somehow. If you
have any examples of the "several hundred" I'd love to be able to
pass those on to NIA OPS.
A30: If your rating has ever dipped below good then some
agreements may not be have been counted during that time.
A56: Why would you not want to populate the Portal network?
W2A3: Not at this time. They were thoroughly analyzed using all the
data points we have at our disposal to set metrics so that it would take
about a year on average for most people to obtain Onyx. Fun fact:
There is already at least one person with enough agreements to
obtain Onyx and several very close behind.
W3A29: I believe it is still slowing being processed. Originally,
agreements for beta-testers only counted from mid-March on. The
engineers are working on a fix for this though. So you might see a
mismatch but that should be resolved… soon.
A6: I am not aware of anything being planned. But if you have any
ideas, please let me know what they are and I will pass them along to
the team.
A35: Again, another feature that I can’t provide a date for but
confirmed it is being implemented. So once again… soooooooooon™
A37: For now, the best advice we can provide is to resubmit the
location after making sure there's a clear photo, valid title and a
description that adds additional context on how the candidate meets
criteria. A helpful description can go a long way in giving other
reviewers more context on what the submitter saw and why it's a good
candidate.
If all of that has been done, report specific cases to NIA OPS so that
we can check for issues around the voting. This is the link to make a
report, https://support.ingress.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?
ticket_form_id=164588, select Other and mention OPR in your write-
up.
A26: The OPR team says they are working on this currently. More
information coming… soon.
A48: I don’t have any more information on this other than in talking
with the OPR developers they said they are working on this feature.
A77: Looks like changes have started to roll out in between when the
AMA was opened and when the answers were posted. More
improvements and changes will be coming with regard to this.
A37: All good things must come to an end.
A84: NIA OPS says, “For some locations we may need some more
context before we take an action. For example, in this case, it's
possible the location wasn't identified as a school. If a Takedown gets
rejected, and you have additional context to provide, post it in the
Ingress Appeals Community.” That all being said, reach out to me on
Telegram with your Portal information. It could be good to research
things and see if there is additional issues present.
A86: For now, you are advised to use the Portal appeals community
on Google+. The OPR team would love to implement something like
this down the road. But first, the immediate priority is Ingress Prime.
A43: As much as I want to volunteer for this job, I don’t think we can
do this. I recognize that these type of places can change from time to
time. Perhaps we can take that into account when edits are submitted.
I’ll talk to NIA OPS about this.
A75: I spoke to a couple of internal teams on this and so far the
verdict is that it is not a TOS violation.
A52: According to the OPR team, the review range has recently
changed to help ensure that all submissions, even those in rural
areas, get analyzed.
A88: The TOS states that you agree to abide by all local laws. NIA
OPS does not have the knowledge of every local laws in every city
throughout the entire world. NIA OPS is also not the enforcers of
policy set by municipalities. If someone believes that a TOS violation
has occurred, they can use the Help Center (support.ingress.com) to
submit a ticket for NIA OPS to review. NIA OPS says that they are
happy to work with property owners/managers if they have concerns.
A66: NIA OPS says that in general, yes, they do need to respect the
same rule. Without specifics though it is hard to give a definite
answer.
A67: Our motto is adventures on foot. I don’t think things will change
in the short-term. If you are referring to the Red Sands Fort, I believe
NIA OPS commented on the appeal thread and it was more about the
“safe” part than the “pedestrian” part from reading their reply.
A7: The guidance from NIA OPS that I received is to review the
candidate as per the rest of the criteria and use the location questions
to address the safety issue.
A11: Portals that were accepted in the past may not meet today's
criteria.
A23: I would need more information to offer an informed opinion. The
uninformed and general opinion is that they are legal portals which is
why reporting them has not worked.
A30: Don't mistake and equate the removal of a portal with it not being
legit. It could have have been legit but someone in authority asked for
it to be removed. Your first part of the question is correct. They are
valid portals.
A155: This is a very generalized question that I'm not sure I can
answer without more information.
A188: You have to separate out past, present, and future portals. Yes,
the present criteria is different than the past criteria. This means future
portals may be accepted or rejected whereas in the past the opposite
was true. None of the previous statements contradict each other and
are all true statements given the context of past, present, and future.
A2: This is a very general question. The rule of thumb is - can a Portal
be accessed safely. If you have to cross four lanes of continuous
traffic driving in circles, it probably isn't going to be considered safe.
A23: I really don't know. I'll have to ask for clarification so I cannot
provide an answer at this time.
A51: Safe. Pedestrian. Access. This is not safe vehicle access, safe
cyclist access, or any other access. Pedestrian. Adventures on foot.
A81: The portal candidate criteria is subject to change. This does not
mean that past selections are now currently invalid. It means that
going forward these are invalid.
A12: According to NIA OPS, mine sites are treated the same was a
military grounds. Only portals on residential single family property
should be denied due to property type. Assuming the portal meets all
the other submission criteria which includes not obstructing or
interfering with the operations of a industrial site as cited in the OPR
help article.
A46: NIA OPS says, roundabouts that have pedestrian access (have a
stripped crossing lane, sidewalk around the roundabout, etc) are OK.
If the player cannot walk up to the object on the roundabout, it will be
removed. Note that access from a sidewalk next to the roundabout is
not considered safe pedestrian access. To appeal, adding photos
showing that the roundabout has pedestrian access would help.
A73: NIA OPS says, sounds like it would meet criteria if it has some
significance and has pedestrian access. If it's not easily apparent,
adding a clear description about the significance of the Portal
candidate will help other OPR reviewers evaluate it accurately.
W3A21: It’s hard to comment without knowing the specifics. I’ll say
that what one person considers dangerous, maybe others do not. For
example, there was an issue recently about a lighthouse. One faction
claimed it was dangerous. However, the other faction routinely
captured it without incident.
W4A24: My understanding is portals on commercial property are
allowed, this includes apartment complexes. Portals on private
residential property are not allowed. The issue is one of access. If the
player controls the access and can categorically deny everyone, that's
not fair. If a hundred people have access but only one is an Ingress
player... well... that's an entirely different situation.
A67: By definition, a public easement provides the right of the general public to use certain streets, highwa
A70: Not all Portals need to be accessible to all Agents at all times.
Think of it as an opportunity to make new friend.
A4: I spoke to NIA OPS, and they said your point of view on the
situation is correct. If the location is currently in use as a private
residence then the candidate should be 1* even if it has historical or
cultural significance.
A14: I was told there was a bug that was identified affecting emails. It
should have been fixed as of today (Monday, June 5, 2018).
A11: NIA OPS says, “Each Portal should be evaluated on its own
merit without taking into account the density of the location. There are
a few exceptions for locations with low density that's mentioned in the
Guide (https://opr.ingress.com/guide). “
A82: Even if you are not aware of any players in the location, OPR
reviewers from other locations could have selected this region as their
home and bonus locations.
A54: Can you ping me with which areas specifically you are
wondering about?
A32: The OPR team has told me, “We have begun and will continue to
adjust the frequency of assigning candidates from outside of ones
normal OPR areas. It will take some time but this should help with
areas that don't have enough OPR participation.”
W3A1: Yes. We plan to open portal submissions in the future.
A59: I think we may need to research this one. Can you send me, via
Telegram, the information about your Portals?
A78: The OPR team says they recently found a bug with the editing
system and sending emails. A fix for that was recently implemented I
believe. They are researching similar issues in other parts of OPR to
see if they can reproduce some of the other things players have
brought to our attention.
A14: I was told there was a bug that was identified affecting emails. It
should have been fixed as of today (Monday, June 5, 2018).
A35: That’s actually a really good idea. I’ll flag this for the OPR team.
A37: The OPR Team has said this is something currently under
development.
A72: This is being discussed internally.
A75: There isn’t a timeframe that I can discuss. But I have been told
that this feature or something very similar like a credit system is still
on the roadmap and one of the higher priorities.
A54: I spoke to the product team and the general sentiment is that this
is a complex problem to solve. It isn’t as simple as randomly throwing
dice to spawn things, we’ve seen the negative impacts that solution
has had on gameplay for other products. That said, we are working to
improve the experience for our rural players. If you have direct
feedback you want to provide me about is not working for your area
with regard to Portal submissions/approvals I would be happy to pass
it along. I’m sure that when the Ingress servers are upgraded this will
be one of the things that gets a lot more attention.
A14: That's a really good question and I don't know that I can answer
it at this moment. I'd have to check with our legal department to
provide a conclusive answer. I'll see if I can't get an answer.
A14: At this time we do not have plans to allow a feature like this.
A57: Fake location and fake photo? I'm fairly confident in saying, no,
you shouldn't be doing that.
A238: Right now this isn't possible and I don't see that changing any
time soon.
A50: Yes.
Don't know the answer but I'll write it down. Reviewing edits in OPR is
coming soon.
A33: We am hoping we can improve the submission process in
Ingress 2.0 to include supporting photos and hopefully spheres.
W10A4: Yes
W10A44: Yes.
A44: Every submission has it's own cool down clock. So if you submit
seven portals on October 1st, you would be able to submit new
portals on October 14th. If you only submitted one portal on October
1st, you could submit 6 new ones on October 2nd. You would be able
to submit one new portal on October 14th and six new ones on
October 15th. Hope that makes sense.
A57: Right now we aren't anticipating the need to end portal
submissions.
A3: I do not know.
Short term, no, long term I imagine they'll adjust it but I don't know.
There are internal discussions, there’s not a yes on that yes. We still
approve portals where there’s no portals in the area. Coming soon will
be the ability to review edits, that is very close to occurring.
W12A1: Seven is the limit for now. We may adjust this over time.
W2A11: Yes.
W8A40: No. The reality is, every time someone asks I get another
gray hair in my beard.
W8A8: 18%
W9A11: Not this week. There is one final step in the release process
we are trying to work through at the moment. But once that is
complete, submissions will be back.
W9A6: Because yesterday was a Holiday and people are still not back
in the office yet, I am unable to provide an update this week.
A61: NIA OPS says, “Yes, since they fall under the criteria of
adventurous tourist attractions and encourages walk and exercise, it's
ok to rate them at 5* even if they do not have any educational
content.”
Thanks for the appeal, Agent. This was rejected in error, and we've now
reversed our decision. Portal online.
For the future, information regarding what the plaques/stones signify would
have been helpful since it wasn't clear on the photo. You can include this
type of information in the description so that we have some context when
reviewing submissions.
