5min Good morning students, I hope everyone is doing well today. Today we will be learning the skill of awaiting my instructions.
Passing and how to correctly perform this essential skill for game play. Now,can anyone tell me
why it’s good in the game of basketball to pass the basketball instead of just dribbling all the time? WISG- they get to wherever they have been assigned.
Very good it’s easier to advance the ball when you incorporate quality passing.

Now when Passing it’s important we remember our teaching cues about the critical elements of
Passing. These include being in an athletic square stance, keep knees bent, step in opposition
(opposite foot from dominant hand), have elbows out (make arm wings), follow through with
thumbs turned down.

Wouldn’t it so cool if you could perform the skill of passing like your favorite NBA basketball
player? Raise your hand if you would like that?

So by the end of today’s lesson you be able to perform a chest pass with a basketball with both
hands using correct form to a target located 15 feet away completing 4 out of 5 successful trials.

So WISG, I want all students to go stand on one of the spot markers placed on the court as you can
see and wait for further instructions. Ok ready, GO…..

Ok so students we’re going to inform our passing skills by passing in general space. WISG - pickup
basketball with hands and begin chest passing at the target located on the wall in front of you
standing 15 feet away from the wall. Watch as I demonstrate what I want this exercise to look
like…(demonstrate).
When I yell Freeze, stop what you are doing and place ball on the ground in between your feet and
await further instruction. Ok so WISG what is everyone doing? And everyone will put the ball down
on the floor in between their legs when you hear me yell….(FREEZE)

Great job, everyone is paying attention!

Ok ready, set, GO…..

Learning Task 2: Structure and CFU Students are bounce passing at target on wall using both hands

Ok so students we’re going to extend our passing skills by making our task a little more challenging.
WISG - begin bounce passing with two hands and bouncing the ball so it bounces from the floor to

Learning Task 3: Structure and CFU Students are chest passing at target on wall using both hands
10min Type: Informing, Extension, Refinement, Application: standing 30 feet away..
Ok so students we’re going to extend our chest passing skills by making our task a little more
challenging. WISG - begin chest passing the ball target located on wall. You will be standing on the Reinforce force output on pass now that distance is greater,
spot markers located 30 feet away from the target on wall. Continue to do this until I instruct you stepping in opposition, and following through to target.
