Author by: Wong Kwan Hung

P1 Definition
In this assignment, I am required to mock up a music event. Its will be a “music
Drama”. Before we will mock up the details of our recital, its essential to get to know
and understand the terms of “music drama”. The meaning and purpose of such recital
in the history and the key to successfully carry out our recital. We have a month to
gether up all information, planning and practicing.

Music drama
https://www.britannica.com/art/music-drama
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_theatre
Music drama is a type of serious musical theatre. Musical theatre is a form of
theatrical performance combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The story
and emotional content of a musical – humor, pathos, love, anger – are communicated
through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as a
whole. Although musical theatre overlaps with other theatrical forms like opera and
dance, it may be distinguished by the equal importance given to the music as
compared with the dialogue, movement and other elements. Since the early 20th
century, musical theatre stage works have generally been called, simply, musicals.
There are diverse musical theatres throughout the history such as The Sound of Music,
Singing in the Rain. And in there are even more tv shows and movies adapted with
these elements. High School Musical and La La Land are one of those movies using
musical and theatrical elements as the base of the film.
Example, The Sound of Music is a 1965 American musical drama film produced and
directed by Robert Wise, and starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The
film is an adaptation of the 1959 Broadway musical The Sound of Music, composed
by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The film's screenplay was
written by Ernest Lehman, adapted from the stage musical's book by Howard Lindsay
and Russel Crouse. And La La Land is a 2016 American musical romantic comedy-
drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle, and starring Ryan Gosling and
Emma Stone as a musician and an aspiring actress who meet and fall in love in Los
Angeles. The film's title refers both to the city of Los Angeles and to the idiom for
being out of touch with reality.
As for our recital, we are using the same technique as well. But it will be much
simpler than those that are presented in the ovies. Drama acting adapted with songs
used in which the contents are parallel to each other.

P2 Factor influences the event

For this event, our drama named “Golden son award” and we are going to pay
attention on what we could able to do. We have to specify about the limits and the
things that we are willing and able to carry out for the performance. Firstly, the stage
that we are going to perform have limited space. That will cause us having smaller
space for our performance. Secondly, most of us are lack of capability in playing
instruments which will stop some of us in involving every performance. However,
through guidance and scheduled practices we believe that it will not be a problem to
carry out such performance.
