- Bilog was a Hanunuo Mangyan who was a native of
Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro. He was known for his efforts in
preserving the mangyan poetry tradition of ambahan.

- The Maguindanaon is known for his mastery of the

- Saclag is a Kalinga master of dance and the performing arts from
Lubuagan, Kalinga. He has mastered not only the Kalinga musical
instruments but also the dance patterns and movements associated with
his people’s ritual.

- Epic Chanter
- Caballero is a Filipino epic chanter. He is also called Nong
Pedring learned about epics from his mother and his grandmother,
Anggoy Omil who would chant these to him and his siblings as a
lullaby.

UWANG AHADAS

- Musician
- Ahadas is a Filipino folk musician of the Yakan people. He first learned
how to play the gabbang, a wooden bamboo instrument similar to
the xylophone then learned how to play the agung an instrument
traditionally played by Yakan men.

- Sawabi is one of the master weavers in the island of Jolo. Like most
women in their tribe, she has learned the art of weaving the pis syabit, the
traditional cloth tapestry worn as head cover by the Tausug of Jolo, from
her mother.

- Mutuc is an artist who has dedicated his life to creating religious
and secular art in silver, bronze and wood. His intricately detailed

- Her colorful mats with their complex geometric patterns exhibit her
precise sense of design, proportion and symmetry and sensitivity to
color. Her unique multi-colored mats are protected by a plain white

- People in the nearby towns sit up and take notice of his unique,
functional and elegant headpiece that shields him from the rain and
the sun. The inside of tabungaw is lined with finely woven rattan

MAGDALENA GAMAYO

- In her profile, it was reported that Magdalena has taught herself the
traditional patterns of binakol, inuritan, kusikos, and sinan-sabong.
She may be in her late 80s but she still manages to arrange threads
on the loom, which is the hardest task in textile weaving.
