2) Materials Needed – Marimba, two vibraphones, sticks, music, stands, pencils 3) Learning Objectives – The students will learn to play the Brandenburg Concerto with note and rhythmic accuracy, as well as musical phrasing. 4) Assessments - The students will play the Brandenburg Concerto with note and rhythmic accuracy, as well as musical phrasing. 5) Personal Goals – I will try to not talk too much, and stick to my lesson plan. 6) Procedure BEFORE CLASS o Have instruments, stands, and sticks all ready for students WARMUP o F major scale, alternating hands, repeat top note FIRST AND SECOND SYSTEM o What sticking would be best for the first four measures? o Finger play and sing parts Can you sing at the written dynamic? No trills/rolls o Play through on mallets slowly If parts 1 and 3 need extra practice, have Part 2 finger through their part at measure 7 while I work with the other parts o Phrasing – where is the phrase going? don’t let the parts get too “notey” PUT IT TOGETHER o Play the first two systems all together with rolls (if they can) o Keep in mind dynamics phrasing listen to each other!! THIRD AND FOURTH SYSTEM (if time) o Repeat steps from earlier systems o Bring out the third on the last chord (Part 2) 7) Closure – You guys did great today! I liked how you were accurate with your notes and rhythms, and demonstrated musical phrasing.
