CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION This module describes an introductory course on essentials of management
science. It introduces the students to topics such as Break-even Analysis, sensitivity Analysis, Mathematical
Programming Techniques,Linear Programming Techniques, Integer Programming, Transportation, Transshipment,
and Assignment Problems. It also allows more emphasis on computer solutions with excel spreadsheets.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES The main objective of the course is to give students an introductory understanding of
modern management science and its implications in both the public and private sector by conducting various
mathematical models and techniques
GENERAL LEARNING OUTCOMES (COMPETENCES)

On successful completion of this course, all students will have developed knowledge and understanding of:
- Major Issues on Management Science
- Mathematical Programming Techniques
- Linear Programming Techniques
- Graphical Solution Techniques
- Modeling Techniques

On successful completion of this course, all students will have developed their skills in:

- Applying some technical concepts in Management Science such as Mathematical Programming Techniques
and Linear Programming Techniques.
- Applying some subjects in Management Science such as Transportation, transhipment and assignment
problems
- Solving the Decision Making Problems by using excel spread sheet

On successful completion of this course, all students will have developed their appreciation of and respect for
values and attitudes regarding the issues of:

- Reducing complex problems used in Management Science to a concise and precise way
- Modeling and Solving decision making problems by using some methods employed in Management
Science
- Constructing a philosophy of approaching a problem in a logical manner as does any science.

ATTENDANCE
Attendance is compulsory by the university regulation. Students are strongly advised not to miss lecture hours since
success is closely related with attendance. Absence over 20% will be penalized with an NG.

penalty that may range from receiving a grade of zero to expulsion from the University. Plagiarism is an offence and
will be dealt with according to University regulations.
COURSE POLICIES:
Regular class attendance and active participation:
University regulation requires regular attendance to each lecture. Students who have less than 80% attendance will
not receive any point for attendance so students are strongly advised to be on time.

Pre-class reguirement:
Student are recommended to read the relevant materials before each class.
Quizzes:
Quizzes will be announced one week in advance. Student are advised not to miss anyone.

MAKE-UP EXAMS
Students who have valid excuses will be allowed to take make-up examinations for mid-term and final exams. No
make-up exams for quiz.

June 14th is the last day for the submission of letter grades.
June 16th is last day for submission of the graduation decisions.
June 21st is graduation ceremony (Convocation) for Spring Graduates.
