 „Be active! Promoting ICT in Flipped Classroom methodology”

“Between 2nd and 8th December 2018, the first International Short-Term Mobility of
the students and teachers from the "Constantin Brâncoveanu" Technological High School of
Targoviste took place within the framework of the Erasmus project entitled "Be Active!
Promoting ICT in Flipped Classroom Methodology "Registration no: 2018-1-IT02-KA229-
048508_2, funded by the EU through the ERASMUS + PROGRAM, KA2 key action at San
Pietro in Cariano, Verona, Italy. The aim of the project is to encourage students and teachers
to use ICT effectively and appropriately in learning and teaching.

OBJECTIVES:
For the teachers:
 acquiring knowledge and experience in using a
new teaching method (flipped classroom);
 acquiring self-confidence and learning the use of
different IT (ICT) in different subjects
(applications, robots, educational platforms);
 getting the experience of the positive use of ICT in
the learning process;
 planning of new teaching units;
 improving English language skills.

For the students:

 getting the experience of
the positive use of ICT
during the learning
process;
 developing
entrepreneurial skills,
such as developing new
creative ideas, the ability to involve other people in activities, planning and conducting an
event;
 improving English language skills.
The aim of mobility is to gain: experience in an intercultural dimension of autonomy
and self-promotion, learning in another organization, getting to know a socio-cultural context
different from one's own, and observing similarities and differences between these two.

 For the first international mobility there were selected to take part, astfer certain well-
thought criteria, three techers(prof. Coman Carmen Lavinia – project coordinator; prof.
RoșoiuGeorgetaAnița, prof. RaduAndra) and five students (Nițoi L.N. Andrei Sebastian –
grade 12thA, Onicescu V. Cosmin Alexandru – grade 10th S, Popescu G. Cosmin Ionuț–grade
12thM, Puică M.E. Andra Ramona – grade 12th S, Trepăduș F. LoredanaMihaela) .
There took place activities such as: workshops for the programming of mBot robots
for both teachers and students, visiting the State Institute of Higher Education "L. Calabrese -
P. Levi ", visiting the city of San Pietro in Cariano, visiting the various tourist attractions of
Italy: Venice, Lake Garda, Verona, for the cultural preparation, presentation of the logo of
each school - Romania, Italy, Spain and Hungary. The logo of the project, outlined above,
namely the Italian logo was the most desirable, as being suitable to represent the project,
which has a duration of 27 months.
It is worth mentioning that the Romanian students were hosted by the families of the
Italian students participating in the project. They felt appreciated, had a good relationship with
the Italian families and students, and stay in touch. It was an unforgettable experience for
them and they look forward to seeing them again in our country in October 2019.
This wonderful experience has reached its goal and I warmly recommend that all
teachers and students take part in international mobility, they will surely be delighted with
what they experience.”

“For the entire team, this mobility has meant professional development, exchange of
experience and transfer of good practices, acquisition of language and ICT skills and
knowledge.
The partner schools in Italy, Romania, Spain and Hungary gathered on December 2-8,
2018, in San Pietro in Cariano, Italy.

For five days, the host school IIS Calabrese Levi organized flipped classroom
workshops, robot workshops (mBot), and visits to nearby Verona, Venice, Lake Garda.
The visit to Verona was a great experience for us because we discovered ancient,
medieval and modern buildings blending harmoniously, offering uniqueness to this wonderful
place.
Verona is one of the most prosperous cities in northern Italy. The Arena of Verona, the
largest amphitheater of Northern Italy, built for gladiator fights, the House of Juliet,
ErbeSquare (in this market the University of Verona was formed in 1339), Dante Square, Old
Castle, the Adige River are just a few of the attractions we visited.

 Lake Garda formed after the melting of glaciers at the end of the last glaciation. It is
the largest glacial lake in Italy, with an area of 370 km2 and a circumference of 144 km.
Located at the foot of the Alps, Lake Garda offers a varied landscape with well-kept beaches
along the southern shore and rocky cliffs on the north coast. Lake Garda is known for its blue,
clear and cold water, so wonderful for a refreshing dip in the summer. Windsurfing, sailing
and hiking are popular activities among tourists. The towns around the lake, with medieval
streets full of trattorias and boutiques, are extremely beautiful. In the centre of the Southern
shore, on a beautiful peninsula, lies the fascinating city of Sirmione, with its wonderful castle
and a labirinth of Roman ruins.
What was particularly interesting was the visit to Venice, a city that managed to

fascinate us and amaze us from the first moment. Water, air

and stone give birth to a wonderful atmosphere of shapes and
colors, which penetrate into the construction and pour into
the canals. The streets murmur with people, all going to San
Marco Square. The gondolas compete on the CanalGrande,
and the boats tour the city.
The famous Renaissance architecture, historical
monuments, souvenir and mask shops, mean one city alone:
Venice.
For both teachers and students, visiting these
attractions has meant a special experience, enriching
historical knowledge and geographical culture, given that
each region has its own specificity, a fascinating universe
worth exploring. "

 “State Institute of Higher Education ‘L. Calabrese - P. Levi’ was
born on September 1st, 2008 from the aggregation of S. Floriano's pre-
existing Science Lyceum and the Lorenzo Calabrese Technical Institute
in San Pietro, Cariano.

The territory of the Institute has been affected in recent years by

major transformations with strong migratory flows, both in the city and
abroad, with significant economic growth, especially in the secondary
and tertiary sectors. This has led to contacts that are not limited to the
provincial sphere but are open to important national and international
dimensions and to the development of multiple expressions taking place
in the realms of culture, sports, associations, voluntary work.

This steady growth required an adaptation of the educational

offer by the Institute. On the one hand, it was not necessary to disperse the patrimony of the
history and culture that is specific for the area. On the other hand, it was necessary to offer
young people who do a higher education course different opportunities and tools for their
knowledge, skills and competences, necessary for orientation in a wider and more complex
world, acting as active protagonists and agents responsible for future development.

The students’ schedule is from Monday to Saturday (at the parents' request), 5 hours a
day, from 8.30 to 13.30, without breaks between classes (only a 10-minute break in the
middle of the program). They do not have a set classroom, but move from one classroom to
another according to the class they have.
The high school is equipped with a sports hall, computer science lab, science (Physics,
Chemistry, Biology) labs, library, amphitheater; each classroom is equipped with interactive
whiteboard, video projector and computer. Meetings with parents are often personal, each
teacher that teaches in that class setting up a meeting with the students' parents according to a
schedule.
To conclude, I can honestly say that it was a pleasant experience bot for us, the
teachers taking part in the Erasmus+ KA2 project ‘Be active! Promoting ICT in Flipped
Classroom Methodology’ and for students.” Theacher,

 “For me, this mobility within the Erasmus + Project was a unique experience in which
we had many beautiful moments! Throughout the mobility we had fun with Italian, Spanish
and Hungarian students doing various activities and games. During this time we made friends
with other young people from whom we can learn new things. We also had many trips where
we could see unique places.
As far as I am concerned, the Erasmus+ project has been and will remain a unique
experience in which we made beautiful memories and which taught me a lot of things!”
