Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
This field experience provided the opportunity to take a deeper look into the components that impact instruction at
Hapeville Elementary School. I learned to collect and analyze data and use the findings to help restructure the
instructional practices and approaches within the school. This project gave me a deeper understanding of how important
creating and presenting a clear vision is. It also gave insight to why the development of a data team is important. The data
provides support to the vision the school as established. I also had a chance to understand how the school functions
during the school year by collecting data on instructional initiatives and assessments. The data overview activity helped
me understand how to clearly identify and present to all stakeholders and community members. Through this activity, I
was able be a part of taking the school’s data, identify their strengths and weaknesses and assist in creating an
instructional plan to address them approapriately.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge, skills, and dispositions required of a
technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use
the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
Knowledge: As an instructional technology coach, it is necessary to understand the variety of data
resources available at the local and state level and how trends indicate student achievement.

Skills: It was necessary to use a variety of school and district resources in order to complete this task
such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Screencast-O-Matic.

Dispositions: It was essential to remain objective and unbiased when analyzing the school’s data.
This aided me in appropriately analyzing root-causes and developing solutions for the most
appropriate support.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
As an instructional technology coach at Hapeville Elementary, I hope to share this data overview with the
instructional/administrative team to support their data processes and procedures. The data presented within this
presentation will help aid HES in continuing their efforts to dissect data and make instructionally sound decisions to
support student achievement. As we worked together, the information attained while completing this project will allow
me to have a greater impact in my coaching practices due to my greater understanding of their starting point.
This field experience will impact school improvement through implementing the Understanding Data Process (UDA), a
systematic framework that will help identify critical areas for improvement and formulate strategies to resolve identified
issues. Faculty will be able to break down strategic data information and identify groups of students that need additional
support. Students will benefit from targeted support provided as a result of applying UDP.
