I think that teaching is one of the most important professions in the world. We have to
put a great amount of energy and make more than one effort in order to make the
students get the sense of their lives. One of the articles is called “the difficult art of
teaching” and I think that the name could not be more accurate because it is not easy to
teach the students how to live, how to fly and dream without sleeping, how to know
about culture in the world and how, of course, to know about their own culture.

Teaching is the profession that we decided to study and I personally love to do it. I love
to give part of my present to the students in order to make them find their future. It is our
responsibility to bring up the people that one day will be the managers, firstable of a
family, and then of the country. In other words, we are teaching and bringing up the
future country and that is not easy.

One of the aspects that I consider has been totally relevant to make teaching a difficult
art is the upbringing that students have in their own families. Now a days families are
unstable and have different kind of problems, these problems happens because of a
wrong interpretation about what a family is, or because of social problems such as
poorness and difficult economic facts.

I really think that when there is not a balance in the student’s families their behavior at
school is going to reflect what they live in their houses. For this reason it is complicated
to make the students create a good empathy with their classmates. However, as we
could read in one of the articles, it is a topic in which we, as teachers must work a lot. It
is necessary to make students create the quality of empathy and compassion because
without them it would be impossible to know the others and of course we could not help
them to solve their problems.

In my own opinion we have to behave ourselves according to what we really like and
wish, I mean, we have to take into account other’s opinions and advises but it is not
necessary to apply all what people want us to do. Nevertheless, we must teach the
students how to be humble and understand the importance of empathy. They need to
know that empathy is a basic social element that will let them know other’s feelings in
order to be able to become in good listeners (which is the main feature of leaders, social
workers, medics, and teachers).

So far I said what students must learn through teachers, but I can’t forget that every
single educator must have special features to get the goal with the students. If teachers
do not have these features they will have to acquire them, on the contrary, they will not
reach the goal.

It sounds easy but it is not. Now a days several institutions think that whoever can be a
teacher at schools and they have found that the results are not as expected. Teachers
must receive a good formation because the educative level of a country depends on the
permanent learning of the teachers, this could possibly be the most important feature of
a teacher. For that reason Juan Santaella says that the level of education in countries
like Singapore or Hong Kong is better, they enjoy the tutelage of experienced
professors and all have one hundred hours of annual training.

Every single teacher should be prepared, brilliant, and worried with the performance of
the students but also must be a person who helps the students to become in better
people who acquire autonomy. These teachers must be able to stablish a connection
with the students in order to know their interests, necessities and, of course, these
teachers should make students trust them and see them as friends, not as people who
only love to bother students.

I do not mean that the teacher must become in postmodern educators who behave like
the student. What I mean is that the teacher should make the students trust but without
losing the authority and respect for the teacher. Unfortunately, respect to teachers is
something underestimated now a days, that’s something that is affecting the connivance
at school not only with the teacher nor or with the whole academic community.

As we found in the article about connivance, students do not respect the teachers
because of several factor, one of them has to do with the upbringing that students
receive in their families. Some families think that the best way to bring up a child is
providing all what they want and pleasing him or her all the time. But there are other
families in which the problem is harder and it has to do with familiar violence,
alcoholism, and so on. These factors totally affect the connivance at school.

Some children are really violent and some others are very quiet. It depends on us to
keep the valance with them. We have to continue studying and learning how to be also
good people in order to understand children’s feelings and behaviors. That’s the start
point to get a better pedagogy in the institutions and better people in the future.
