0 Introduction

Entrepreneurs are innovators, willing to take risks and generate new ideas to create

unique and potentially profitable solutions to modern-day problems. This innovation may

result in new organizations or revitalize mature organizations in response to a perceived

opportunity. The most obvious form of entrepreneurship is starting a new business (referred as

a startup company). In recent years, the term has been extended to include social and political

forms of entrepreneurial activity, which are often referred to as social entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurial activities differ substantially depending on the type of organization

and creativity involved. Entrepreneurship ranges in scale from solo projects (that can even

involve the entrepreneur working only part-time) to major undertakings that create many job

opportunities. Many high-value entrepreneurial ventures seek venture capital or angel

funding (seed money) to raise capital for building the business

So, we Polytechnic Ibrahim Sultan Ibrahim student has decide to interview a

successful entrepreneur who was from very poor background but able to be a very successful

entrepreneur. We have conducted this case stduy for our DPB 2012 ENTREPRENEURSHIP

.
2.0 PERSONAL BACKGROUND

Name: Kumar A/l Ramakrishnan

Age: 47

Education: Form 3

Mr. Kumar was born in Bercham, Perak. His father is a construction worker and his mother is

just a homemaker . Mr. Kumar belongs to very poor family, where he had 5 siblings and he is

the eldest among them. At the age of 15 Mr. Kumar unable to persuade his studies due to his

family financial background and he decided to aid his family by working at nearby cotton

factory. At the age 16 he shifted to Johor Bahru due to lack of job opportunity back there at his

hometown.

Upon arriving Johor Bahru, Mr. Kumar has known no one in here. He was jobless and

tend to spend most of time at bus station all alone day and night. After some time, he manages to

get a job as waiter at a Chinese restaurant with the help of good heart stranger. During the course

of time, Mr. Kumar has done various types of odd jobs. At age of 24, with the help of his long

friend Mr. Kumar step into precision industry as general worker, until then he doesn’t know it’s

gone a be a life changing moment.

With a great determination and hard work, Mr. Kumar slowly educate and gain all the

knowledge and skills that required to be a skillful workman. His work and determination able

impress his employer a lot and Mr. Kumar was promote as a department leader. Mr. Kumar has

taken this opportunity to refine and sharpen his leadership skills.
