FOR 30–300 PE
Benefits of AS–VARIOcomp N
Application

• Intensification of existing WWTP’s ISO
A type series of fully-equipped wastewater treatment plants designed for sewage treatment. The WWTP’s can be used for
capacities from 30 to 300 population equivalents (PE). The technology of these plants is based on stable and reliable operation
at minimum energy consumption. This technology uses aerobic biological processes that have proved their efficiency in long-term
practical operation.
• AS–VARIOcomp N
Wastewater flows into the sedimentation part of the WWTP, which serves at the same time as a reservoir of excessive sludge.
It captures settling and floating dirt. In the activation part of the WWTP mechanically pre-treated water is biologically re-treated.
In the final settlement part of the WWTP the created sludge flakes settle and treated water is drained. Concentrated sludge
from the bottom part of the settlement tank is automatically returned to the activation part. A part of activated sludge from the
activation part is withdrawn to the sludge tank as excessive sludge.
• AS–VARIOcomp N/P
Unlike the AS–VARIOcomp N type the WWTP is additionally fitted with a device for dosing a precipitation agent to reduce
the content of phosphorus in treated water. The dosing device can be installed within the treatment plant space and no other
structural adaptations are necessary except providing power supply for the WWTP.
• AS–VARIOcomp N/PUMP
Unlike the basic AS–VARIOcomp N type the WWTP also includes a pumping sump that is equipped with sludge pump and
a rack basket. Wastewater is directly pumped to the activation part of the WWTP.

AS–VARIOcomp N ULTRA
A type range for 30–300 PE. These fully-equipped wastewater treatment plants are designed for treatment of sewage from
permanently inhabited buildings for 30–300 population equivalents. The WWTP is equipped with membrane technology that
removes most viruses and bacteria from treated water. The quality of treated water is comparable to that of rainwater and
can be used for irrigation as well as utility water for the household.
The WWTP consists of an all-plastic tank divided with partitions into individual technological spaces. The tank contains
a micro-filtration module consisting of an air distribution system and aeration elements, membranes and a mammoth pump.
The tank is covered with a tilting cover. Wastewater flows to the sedimentation tank of the inlet part of the WWTP, where
mechanical, floating and settling substances are removed from it and are further subjected to anaerobic decomposition
(hydrolysis). From the sedimentation space mechanically pre-treated water gets over an overflow to the activating space,
where a membrane section is delimited that contains a micro-filtration module.
The activation space is used for biological treatment of wastewater and micro-filtration through membranes. In its bottom part
this space is fitted with a fine-bubble aeration system that is used to aerate the tank as well as to clean the membranes into
which air is forced with a blower. An advantage of this design is that the plant works in the range between the minimum and
maximum operation level, which provides it with accumulation space within the entire space of the treatment plant that is
designed for wastewater accumulation and to ensure evener drain from the treatment plant.
Activated mixture from the activation part is filtered through the membranes with the pore diameter of 0.03 μm into the drain.
In case of a failure of the function of the module (pump fault, clogged module, etc.) the activated mixture from the activation
part flows into the vertical final settlement tank, where at the bottom sludge is hydraulically withdrawn back to the activation
part and in case of a high density of sludge into the sludge space as well (as in the case of a conventional WWTP). Treated
water then flows via a submerged pipe into the drain trough. Excessive sludge is removed with the use of a mammoth pump
with manual control to the sedimentation and sludge parts.
