to the climate, weather, seasons.

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

1. Account for the occurrence of land and sea breezes, monsoons and intertropical
convergence zone. (S7ES-IVe-7)

2. Describe the effects of certain weather systems in the Philippines. (S7ES-IVe-8)

A. Activity

(Teacher will use a video presentation)

Which one is warmer when put under the sun, Soil gets heated up more than water.
the soil or the water?

Which between the soil and water is cooler when Soil cools down faster than water.
put in a room?

Which heat faster and loses heat faster? Land gets heated up faster than water and
loses heat faster than water.

Class, you will going to have an Activity Sheet and

answer it individually. Write your answer in one
whole sheet of paper. You must finish it after 10
minutes.

B. Analysis
What is the temperature of land and sea under The lands temperature was 30˚C and the sea’s
the Sun? temperature is 28˚C.

What heat faster under the sun, land or sea? The land heat faster than sea under the sun.

What happens to the heat coming from the land? The heat coming from the land rises.

Is the air above the land warmer or colder? The air above the land was warmer.

Why is the warmer air rising? Warmer air is rising because the molecules of
warm air expands.

Why is the cold air sinking? Cold air is sinking because the molecules of
cold air was closed together.

Where did air from the sea go? The air above the sea will move in to replace
the rising warm air in the land.

When does land breeze occur? Land breeze occur during daytime.

At night, when Sun is gone, land and sea will both When the sun is gone, the land loses heat
cool down. But which between the land and sea faster than the sea.

Where did the air from the land go? The air from the land will move in to replace
the rising warm air in the sea.

When does land breeze occur? Land breeze occur during night time.

C. Abstraction

Where did air above the sea go? The air above the sea will move to land to
replace the rising warm air.

What do you called this moving air that move Sea breeze
from the sea to land to replace the rising warm
air?

Where did air from land go? The air above the land will move to sea to
replace the rising warm air.

What do you called the moving air that move Land Breeze
from land to sea?

What give us a sunny weather, high pressure or High pressure

low pressure?

In what direction does air move? From low to a High pressure to low pressure area
high pressure or the other way around?

Do you have any questions or any clarification? None

D. Application
Why do you think Windmills was built in Ilocos
Norte?
To optimize the full benefit of the winds,
turbines are installed along the shore facing
the sea. When the wind blows, it pushes
against the blades of the wind turbine making
the rotor spin.
