Children's Day
On November 14 every year, Children’s Day is celebrated all across India. It commemorates the birth
anniversary ofJawaharlal Nehru, who, due to his love for children was fondly known as Chacha Nehru.

The day emphasises on the importance of giving love, attention and affection to children. “The children
of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the
country,” said Nehru.

DPS Jhansi loves its children and to celebrate this day a series of programmes were organised on 14
November 2019. Teachers were dressed as students and presented assembly on the stage. They
presented speech, poems, thoughts, news headlines and prayer songs. A couple of games were also
planned for them like tug of war. This made children really overwhelmed and loved.
Dental Check-up

An ounce of prevention can go a long way when it comes to your oral health. Regular checkups can
identify problems early before they become major issues that can damage not just your oral health, but
your overall health. DPS Jhansi conducted a dental check-up for its students on 14 November 2019.

Dr Rajesh Tiwari took time from his busy schedule and guided our students about importance of oral
hygiene!!
Endangered Species of India, Nepal and Africa
British council activity on Endangered species of India, Nepal and Africa was conducted by the students
of DPS Jhansi on 18 November 2019.

Class VIII students made a PowerPoint presentation and class VII students did group discussion to
understand the seriousness of the issue of endangered species. These activities will broaden their
horizon & increase the range of their knowledge and understanding.
Teachers' Orientation

Teachers are our greatest assets in the society. They have the ability to inspire, empower, and foster
environments of self-confidence, passion, and nurture the lives of students. To add more to their
knowledge and experience, DPS Jhansi organised a Teachers' Orientation on 30 November 2019. It was
headed by Mrs. Monika Agarwal and Mr. V N Kashyap from Suaviarty.

Teacher Orientation is important to lay a foundation for the new teachers, mainly to provide them with
concise and accurate information about the ‘how things are done here’ to make them more
comfortable in their teaching tenure.Orientation encourages the teacher’s confidence and helps them
to adapt the teaching environment. It contributes to more effective and productive teaching practices. It
promotes communication between the new teachers and the experienced teachers.
Student's Orientation

Students orientation in today's time is extremely important. For this DPS Jhansi organised a students
orientation programme for the students which was headed by Mrs Monika Agarwal and Mr. V N
Kashyap from Suaviarty.

Orientation programs offer an opportunity to meet current students and other incoming students.
Learning to meet new people and communicate effectively are importantpersonal and professional
learning experiences.

“Adolescence is widely recognized as a period of social, religious, political, and vocational adjustments
as well as a period of striving for increasing emotional and financial independence from parents.”

Children are asked on the one hand to make many adjustments and at the same time seek a greater
degree of independence. If in the years before these changes a solid foundation for change has not been
developed, adolescence can be both a traumatic and an unproductive period of growth. Students that
don’t feel they can make it very often don’t even try.

To build confidence, it is imperative that parents, teachers, and students develop together a plan to
insure a good beginning. The goal of this unit is to establish an orientation program for students
entering middle school that will insure a positive atmosphere for learning as well as cooperation
between parents, teachers, and students.
Parents' Orientation

Orientation is incomplete without the participation of the parents. So DPS Jhansi conducted an
orientation for parents too, again headed by Mrs s Monika Agarwal and Mr. V N Kashyap from Suaviarty.

Adolescence is a very difficult period to define. There are amazing differences between adolescents.
Each child is unique. What is universal is that adolescence is a problem solving activity. Families that
communicate are more adaptable and better able to adjust. The picture presented by the media of the
typical adolescent is indeed unfair. There is no typical adolescent and parents must be willing to take the
time to know their own child. The adolescent is making vital decisions and parents not only have a right
to help but an obligation.

In early school years many parents are regularly present on visitation nights, but this is not the case with
older children as parent involvement drops off. While it is certainly not a good idea for parents to be
involved in every decision a child must make, there is a need for support. Many parents would like to
help but are not sure of the right amount of involvement or the proper approach to take. Parents must
be encouraged to come to school. There is a great deal that any parent can do to help. Teachers and
parents must be willing to lend support and open lines of communication. Children want role models
and they need discipline. The truth is that while children appear to want total freedom, they do in fact
want family structure, support, and love.
Robotics Workshop

DPS Jhansi organised a three days Robotics Workshop from 6 December to 8 December for its students
to achieve a creative learning among them.

Robots are an integral part of students’ everyday lives and most of them don’t even know it! From
making breakfast, doing chores, and playing games, to buying a snack, robots are everywhere around
them.

As robotics and computers become increasingly prevalent in students’ lives, understanding

programming and programming concepts is becoming very important for students’ success. Robots are a
fun, easy, and effective way to learn about computer programming. Programming a robot has tangible,
observable effects. Testing the robot’s code can be done in a hands-on way with visual results.

The robots provide another opportunity for creative problem-solving. Students should learn to look at a
problem in many ways, rather than applying a formula that they are given. When programming robotics,
there can be many solutions to a single problem, and different students may take different paths to
arrive at a solution. Students get to discuss their processes and the logic that they used to understand
different methods and solutions. This opens students to the real world process of problem solving!
Christmas Carnival
Delhi Public School Jhansi was swept by the Yuletide spirit with Christmas fervour on 25 December 2019.
Our special guests were Maj Gen Minhas and Mr Pradeep Jain.

The entire ground buzzed with various activities; fun and happiness completely took over everything.
The students along with their teachers and parents put up as many as 60 stalls which included
everything from games to food. Artists and craftsmen had come from Delhi to teach students their skills.
The army band show was breathtaking with evergreen melodies.

Raffle prizes were the most awaited part of the event and kept the crowd full of curiosity. Special thanks
to our parents whose presence made all the difference and made the event a success.
Republic Day
Being a National Festival, Republic Day is celebrated by people throughout the length and
breadth of India irrespective of their demographic divisions of caste, creed, languages or
religions. “Republic Day” instills the mixed emotions of nationalism and patriotism in all the
people of India. People divided by languages, cultures and religions gather together to
celebrate the day under the Tricolor or Tiranga.

The 70th Republic Day was celebrated on 26 January 2019 with patriotic fervour and gaiety in
Delhi Public School Jhansi. The celebrations commenced with the customary unfurling of the
national flag by our Director sir, Mr Vinayak Aggarwal followed by the National Anthem. The
school band displayed a wonderful show that was appreciated by all. Patriotic song, poem and
speech narrated by students filled the atmosphere with fervour and concern for their country.
Sweets were distributed to all the students after the celebration.
