A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English 6

I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standards
• Demonstrates command of the conventions of Standard English grammar and usage when
writing or speaking.
• Demonstrates understanding of the research process to write a variety of texts.
• Demonstrate understanding of text types to construct feedback.

B. Performance Standards
• Uses literal information from text heard to construct an appropriate feedback.
• Uses a variety of research strategies to effectively write a variety of texts for various
audiences and purposes.

C. Learning Competencies/ Objectives


At the end of the lesson, the Grade Six pupils should be able to:
1. Distinguish text-types according to purpose and language features –Cause and Effect;
2. Tell the relationship expressed in the situation as to cause and effect;
3. Write possible causes to a given effect and possible effects to a given cause; and
4. Show eagerness in performing the given task.

IV. PROCEDURE:

A. Before the Lesson:


1. Review: Place the adjectives in their proper column.

a. The balloon burst out because you poke on it.
b. If you turn on the light, as a result, the room will be bright.

1. Guided Practice (1st Assessment)
What happen when you poke the balloon?
What happen when you turn on the light?
What happen when you open the faucet?
Based from the situations, what is a cause?
What is also an effect?
Can you relate again the meaning of cause and effect?
Give examples on cause and effect.

2. More Practice (2nd Assessment)


Mechanics: May we have a game. We call this game, “Find Me”. Everyone will be given
strips of cartolina. In each strip of cartolina, a cause and effect was written. So,
each of you will match the correct answer based on the idea that your holding. I will only
give you ten minutes. If you could not find your partner, you will be loss in the game.

c. Gary was not able to pass the test because he did not study.
d. Her sister, Emma was sick last Sunday, as a result, she missed the picnic.

l. Josephine was tired on Friday night so she went to bed early.
m. Allia’s flowers died because she forgot to water them.
n. Kuya Joel ate three hotdogs for lunch because he was very hungry.
o. It was a very hot day so we decided to go to the river to take a bath.
p. Because Jane hates ampalaya she did not eat the vegetable.
q. It started to rain so he had to run home.

3. Independent Practice

Mechanics: Pictures are paste on the board. Everyone will be given meta cards to
write on your answers. You may write possible effects on them. Paste your answer on the
assigned picture.
