Student Feedback:
Nolan has difficulty following undesirable tasks or requests. We are working on
self-regulation and following instructions. When Nolan allows hand over hand
assistance he is reinforced with positive praise. When he refuses to do a task,
he ultimately ends up having a tantrum, which is then ignored until he is calm.
Depending on the situation the task may be requested again before moving on to
a desired activity. Nolan responds very well to visuals so the use of a first/then
board will help reinforce adult directions.

Methods to Monitor:
The goals will be tracked by members of the team across special and general
education settings using a daily chart made for Nolan. A home chart will be
discussed in the family communications section.

Family Communications:
A list was compiled of adult directed tasks to practice with Nolan at home.
Strategies have also been discussed with Sue to help her along the way. It was
suggested to Sue that a sticker chart at home may help track behaviors on a
smaller scale. This gets the family used to thinking in a strategic way to help
maintain Nolan’s positive behavior.

Follow Through:
Nolan’s team will gather together in 6 weeks to discuss progress and determine
the next step. Ideally, we want Nolan to be able to follow adult direction the
first time with diminished prompts and assistance. If Nolan is having a hard time
meeting his goals, we will discuss different strategies to practice.
