More Than Words – Extreme (more “official” version)

Tempo: 93 bpm

Tuning: all flats (Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb)

Notes: While I didn’t go out of my way to make the slaps/knocks too obvious, you can still perform
them. I used an asterisk (*) at specific parts where the slap is NOT played. Again, this is up to you.

You can play the Dadd9/F# as a D/F# if you wish. A majority of these chords are basically quick
movements, such as the G – G/B so don’t worry too much if you don’t get them perfectly. Since the G/B
is really just hinting at the B note on the second fret of the A string, simply forming a G Major chord and
plucking or emphasizing the B note will work. The Bm is indeed in there, but it does sound weird to me.

If you choose to use the slap, keep in mind that they are basically played on every other beat. Again, if
you want to be technical the tab has been made available to you, but it’s a bit more complex, and has a
different ending than the one I am using. The G/A is really just a G chord without the A string fingered
on the second fret.

The last thing that I need to address is the use of the walking line from G* (F# note on Low E) as seen in
the reference file below. This is basically a G chord, followed by a Low E open note, then the F# note on
the Low E string at the second fret. You only play the Low E string for this transition, so it will be 3 – 0 – 2
where “3” is the G note, “0” is the open E string note, and “2” is the F# note.
