SHAAN

SOUND TECHNICAL RIDER 2019 QTR. 1


Below are our Technical requirements for Sound. We designed this rider for
optimum effectiveness at the day of the show. If there are any questions or if
you have trouble providing any of the below mentioned items, please get in
touch well in time before the day of the show and we will work out a solution.
Shaan will be performing with a 6 piece band. Orchestration is as follows:
1 Drummer, 1 Bassist, 1 Guitarist, 1 Indian Rhythm/Conga/octopad/Timbale
player, 1 Keyboard player, 1 Sax/Flute player
Audio Requirements:
The FOH Console, Monitor Console, Outboard Gear (including Inserts and
Effects), and monitors shall be for the sole & express use of Shaan and his
Troupe. This equipment is NOT to be shared with any other support or headline
act or for any other purpose.
Once the equipment has been soundchecked, it is not to be removed, changed
or struck until after Shaan's performance is over.
Sound Check:
Shaan will require a minimum of 120 minutes for Sound check prior to doors.
This 120 minute period begins only after all backline gear is in position and
operational on stage. All inputs must be line-checked and the FOH and Monitor
systems must be fully functional and in a Show ready state.
It is expected that all sound equipment provided is of professional quality, in
perfect working condition, and is accompanied by professional, competent, and
pleasant technicians/engineers. There will be no tolerance for any hiss, buzz,
hums, clicks, pops in any audio system. Shaan's FOH engineer must have
access and control over all House EQ, Delay and Crossover settings.
FOH Speaker Systems:
The speaker system provided must be stereo and arrayed to provide hi-fidelity
even coverage to every seat in the audience area. Our goal is to be able to
achieve 110 dB(A weighted) for the entire audience area.
It is imperative that Centre fills be provided, driven on a matrix bus.

DIGICO SD10 OR AVID S6L
Please Note that both, House & Monitor Consoles should be exactly the
same.
Monitor Console:
The Monitor console must be located at stage right position.
Cue wedge is
compulsory and should be same make as stage wedges

A. Drum Kit :

Drum Riser – {(LxBxH = 8’x8’x1’)} Covered with thick carpet


1 Bass Drum (22”) – 1 Snare Drum – 1 Hi-Hat – 2 Rack Toms (12”/10”) – 1
Floor Tom (14” or 16”) – 5 Cymbals ( 1 Ride/2 Crashes/1 Splash/1 China all
in medium sizes) – All cymbals must be Zildjian K Series/ Sabian/ Paiste
Stands for all the attachments including Bass drum pedal, Hi-hat Stand and a
Sturdy, Strong, Branded Drum Throne.
Percussion Riser – {(LxBxH = 8’x8’x1’)} Covered with thick carpet
B. 2 Octopad’s : 3 D. I. Box.

>. Dholak/Dhol : 4 Microphones (2 Shure sm58 & 2 sm57)


>. Congas : 2 Microphones ( 1 Shure sm58 & 1 sm57)


C. Bass Guitar : 1 D.I. Box, 1 Bass Amplifier


D. Keyboards : 2 Stereo DI Box— ROLAND KC550/ HARTKE KM200

E. Elec. Guitar : 1 D.I. Box, 1 Shure sm57, 1 Guitar Amplifier—FENDER

F. 3 Vocal Cordless Microphones, 4 monitor wedges.


G. 2 Sets of Stage Monitor Side fills, i.e. Front and Rear Side Fills with Bass bins

Also Please provide the following instruments.

A-1 DRUMKIT SET- DW OR Pearl Reference/Vision OR Tama Star


Classic/Superstar (with all accessories including 8 boom stands) in top condition.
1 Transparent acrylic drum shield is mandatory

B- 2 YAMAHA KEYBOARD. Model MOTIF XF6 AND MOTIF XF7. Along with a
Sustain Pedal

C- 1 Set LP Congas

D- 1 Double Tiered KeyBoard stand SpiderPro Or Ultimate & 2 Single Tiered Stand

E- 6 Robust Armless Chairs onstage

F- 6 Bar stools

G- 4 Notation Stands with clip on lamps.


H- 1 No. Professional CD player.

Monitor Overview:

Shaan carries his own in-ear monitor system, as well as his own Microphone. As a
safety measure, 1 Wireless STEREO IEM and 1 UHF Wireless microphone are also
to be provided and 4 monitor wedges to be placed in front for Shaan.

The rest of the band also use In Ears,

So Please provide 10 ProGrade Wireless IEM’s are also to be provided and kept on
immediate standby.

ALSO PROVIDE TALKBACK SYSTEM WITH ACTIVE MONITORS FOR FOH &
MON.
STAGE POWER 240 V/ 13A power supply points are to be placed on stage. This
circuit must be the same distribution as the house and monitor sound systems, and
totally separate from lighting, video circuits.
MIX POSITION
The position of the sound console is of utmost importance.
Control rooms, Booths etc., are absolutely unacceptable for this purpose.

VERY IMPORTANT –The Mix position MUST be located in the house at the center of
the L&R speakers, about halfway between front and rear of the house, forming an
equilateral triangle, with the speaker enclosures and the mix position at the apexes,
with line-of-sight between speakers and control position. While this will not always be
possible, under no circumstances should the console be placed further left than the
left speakers, or further right than the right speakers. The FX & control racks should
be easily accessible from the console and should not be positioned under it. Sufficient
illumination for desk and racks should be provided as should a stool or chair for the
operator.

We strive for a top-notch show for our artist, but we also understand the need for
substitutions from a rental point of view. That being said, We request that you inform
us in case of any discrepancies or shortfalls and we would be more than happy to
discuss the needs of the show.

If you have any problems, or if any of the items listed above will not be available, please
contact us as soon as possible at least one week prior to the event. If no contact is made,
we’ll assume that this rider will be fulfilled to specification.
