1. String the button onto the leather cord and
bring it to the center. Fold the leather in half
on either side of the button shank.
3. Cut approximately five feet of thread.
Working at the tail end, coil the thread
through the leather knot to anchor it.
5. Bring the thread over the top piece of
leather, moving from front to back. Pick up
one 8/0 seed bead and bring it between the
two pieces of leather. Pass the needle and
thread in front of the bottom piece of leather.
2. Tie the leather in an overhand knot just
below the button shank, leaving it slightly
loose.
4. Tighten the leather knot and pull the thread
coil snug. Add a small amount of Hypo
cement to the leather knot where the thread
tail exits the coil. Trim the thread tail.
6. Work the needle around the bottom piece
of leather, moving from front to back. Stitch
up through the 8/0 and bring the thread in
front of the top piece of leather.
7. Bring the thread over the top piece of
leather, working from front to back, and pass
the needle through the 8/0 seed bead again,
locking it into place. Keep the thread in front
of the bottom piece of leather.
9. Pass the thread over the top piece of
leather from front to back. String on two 8/0
seed beads and position them between the
top and bottom cords, they should line up
parallel to the first 8/0. Bring your thread in
front of the bottom piece of leather.
8. Turn the thread, looping around the bottom
piece of leather from front to back. Continue
the figure 8 thread path by stitching up
through the 8/0 and bringing the thread in
front of the top piece of leather.
10. Work the needle around the bottom piece
of leather, moving from front to back. Stitch
up through the two 8/0 seed beads and bring
the thread in front of the top piece of leather.
11. Bring the thread over the top piece of
leather, working from front to back, and pass
the needle through the 8/0 seed beads again.
Keep the thread in front of the bottom piece
of leather.
13. Add three 8/0 seed beads and repeat
steps 9-12.
15. Add one Long Magatama (LMA) one
3mm Swarovski crystal and one LMA. Be
sure to string the LMAs so they point in
opposite directions.
12. Turn the thread, looping around the
bottom piece of leather from front to back.
Stitch up through the 8/0 seed beads,
bringing the thread in front of the top piece of
leather.
14. Move the thread into position by wrapping
it over the top piece of leather.
16. Secure the three beads by wrapping the
thread around the bottom piece of leather,
moving from front to back. Stitch back up
through the LMAs and crystal, keeping the
thread in front of the top piece of leather.
17. Wrap the thread around the top piece of
leather from front to back and stitch down
through the LMAs and crystal.
19. Repeat steps 15-18 to add a second and
third row of LMA and crystal beads.
21. Continue in this way following a pattern of three rows of LMA and crystal beads and one
row of 8/0 seed beads.
18. Continue the figure 8 thread path by
wrapping the thread around the bottom piece
of leather, moving from front to back. Stitch
up through the LMAs and crystal, keeping the
thread in front of the top piece of leather.
20. Add a row of three 8/0 beads. This row
will give the bracelet flexibility and help keep
the LMA rows from stacking too tightly.
22. Begin to taper the bracelet once it is 23. Reinforce the 8/0 seed beads by stitching
