I.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

- Analyze the text through process questions.


- Take note of the salient points present in the text.
- Familiar themselves with choral speaking and its elements.
- Execute a choral interpretation using the text “The Anatomy of a Filipino”.

C. Presentation of the Lesson

Ask them the question, ____________________________________________? Then relate the topic.

After introducing the author, distribute the handouts and let the students read for five minutes.

Process Questions:

1. What was the text about?


2. According to the text, how does a Filipino feel whenever s/he hears the national anthem being
sung or sees the national flag?
3. What perspective of being a Filipino does the writer provide?
4. Is there a change in these perspectives in the latter part of the text?
5. After reading the text, does it make you proud to be a Filipino? Why?

Show a video clip of a sample choral interpretation performance of this text,” The Anatomy of a
Filipino”. Then, based on the video clip, ask the students how was the text or piece performed. After
giving their answers, proceed on discussing what choral speaking is and its elements.

D. Application

Group the class into four. Tell them that each group will have to deliver a choral interpretation and
apply its elements using the same text discussed earlier. Perform it in front of the class.

E. Evaluation

In their notebook, answer the following.

Direction: Identify what element of choral speaking is being described in each number.

1. 25-40 members according to their voices.


2. Poems, verses, passages.
3. Body movements and gestures must complement the meaning of the piece
4. Theme costume- must complement the meaning of the piece
Plain uniforms- help the audience focus on facial & vocal expressions.
5. Light, Medium, Dark voices. =HARMONY
6. One Voice = Unison
7. Highness and lowness of the voice
8. Emphasis that you put on words, phrases, lines.
9. Also known as "stress"
10. Is a performance groups that recite speeches in unison, often with elements of choreography
and costuming to help bring the speech to life?
