I. REVIEWING PREVIOUS LESSON 1 min.


1. Check homework
There was no homework. The students had a test

II. LEAD-IN 5 min.


Open the lesson by introducing the topic: I am sure you are going to like this new
lesson (in Romanian). Ask the following question in Romanian:
Cand mergeti la cumparaturi ce va place cel mai mult sa va cumparati.
Expected answer: Jucarii

Ask the class what the word for jucarii in English is. Toys

Ask the next question: de unde le cumparati?


Expected answer: de la magazinul de jucarii
How do you say “magazin de jucarii” in English? Toyshop.

Ask the students if they know any names of toys in English.

III. PRE-ACTIVITY 2 min.


1. Distribute the worksheets
2. Put the poster on the blackboard

IV. RUNNING THE ACTIVITY 30 min.


1. Ask the students to look at the words in the course book – page 27 – and name
some students to read them out loud. Pronounce together with the students.
2. Ask the students to say which of these toys they have? The point is to make the
students repeat the pronunciation of the new words.
3. Work the “match-type” exercise on the worksheet with the class – pg 24. Ask for
students to volunteer, one student per each matched pair. The point is to help
students associate images with corresponding words.
4. Read the text with the class. Ask for students to volunteer for role play.
5. Ask students to look at the text and identify names of toys. Write the identified toys
on the blackboard.
6. Ask students to find the words that describe the identified toys: cool, funny, nice
Write them on the blackboard also

Teddy bears – nice


Bikes – cool
Alvin – funny

7. Ask the students to look at the text again, namely at pictures 2, 3, 4 and notice how
the characters are pointing at the toys and what words they are using to point at
them: These – Those
8. Explain/elicit difference
9. Remind the class about this and that
V. SUMMARIZING THE ACTIVITY 10 min.
1. Read the dialogue in ex. 4 then ask the students to look at the poster on the
blackboard. Group students in pairs and ask them to imagine they are visiting the
toyshop. Ask them to practice the dialogue using this, that, these, those and
adjectives.

VI. CLOSING THE ACTIVITY 2 min.
