1. Concept: Today’s news is information that is being received and broadcast about
an event that has just happened or just begun. The content of news can be bad or
good news.
2. Objectives:
2.1 Terminal objective: Students should be able to understand the information or
news from the social media or electronic media.
2.2 Behavioral objectives:
Students should be able to:
2.2.1 Pronounce new words in the news.
2.2.2 Understand the content of the news (what happen, where the place of
the news, when the news happen, who is the perpetrator, how is it happen,
and why is it happen).

4.1 Pre-task
4.1.1 The teacher gives brain storming relate to the topic by giving example to
the students and ask them whether they can guess the lesson or not.
4.1.2 The teacher gives the students material about today’s news
Strong magnitude 6.4 earthquake strikes Indonesia

A powerful magnitude 6.4 earthquake has struck off Indonesia's central island of
Sumbawa, but no tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of
damage. The tremor on Tuesday followed a pair of offshore quakes in the same area
earlier Tuesday, including one that was magnitude 6.1 south of the city of Raba.

The latest one struck about 85km south of the town of Kahale, according to the United
States Geological Survey. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Disaster-prone Indonesia, which sits on the geologically active so-called Pacific Ring
of Fire, where tectonic plates collide, suffered its deadliest year in more than a decade
in 2018 as a series of earthquakes and tsunamis killed thousands of people.

The vast Southeast Asian archipelago of more than 17,000 islands is still reeling from
a devastating tsunami at the end of December triggered by an erupting volcano in the
middle of the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra islands that killed more than
400 people.

The tsunami was Indonesia's third major natural disaster in six months. It followed a
series of powerful earthquakes on the island of Lombok in July and August and a
quake-tsunami in September that killed around 2,200 people in Palu on Sulawesi
island, with thousands more missing and presumed dead.

4.1.4 The teacher and the students discuss together about the meaning of new
vocabulary (using power point).
4.1.5 The teacher together with the students read the news and try to point out
the content or information (power point).

4.2 Task Preparation


4.2.1 The teacher asks the students to be in pairs and make the group’s name
then using mobile phone to use kahoot.
4.2.2 The teacher gives instruction to the students (to answer the question in
10 second for each question by choose is it true or false).
4.2.3 The teacher delivers 20 questions relate to the news around world (every
question will be corrected and discuss together).

4.3 Task Realization


4.3.1 The teacher lets the student to answer the questions and gives the
explanation if there are still any wrong answer.
4.3.2 The teacher finishes the questions then gives the winner reward.

4.4 Post-task
4.4.1 The teacher asks the students if there are any difficult vocabulary.
4.4.2 The teacher and the students review and summarize about the material that
already given today.
