Course Code and Name: SCE 4203 PROCESS SIMULATION AND INTEGRATION

Course Level: YEAR FOUR SEMESTER TWO

Course Credit: 4 CU
Contact hours: 60

Brief course description

This course introduces phenomenological model development, the use of mathematical
models to describe physical processes and determination of the necessary components in a
mathematical model.

Course Objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:

 Create mathematical model describing the chemical process

 Discuss the physical properties of the processes
 Analyze the problems and make simulation of them

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course students should be able to:

 Construct mathematical models of physical processes

 Simulate the mathematical models and make solutions
 Programming and analyzing the results
 Solve the algorithm involved in the mathematical models
 Determine the limitations of models

Detailed course description

 Generalized structures for phenomenological models development.

Mathematical models: Describing physico-chemical phenomena. (12 hours)

 Description levels. Determination of the necessary phenomenological

components in a mathematical model, starting from the equipment or process
characteristics in which the phenomenon occurs, the physical properties of
the process medium and the nature of the operation variables: deterministic or
random. (12 hours)
 Analysis of the physico-chemical structure of the mathematical models and
identification of its implicit physical considerations, foreseeing their
possibilities and limitations. (12 hours)

 Problem analysis and developing of the elements required to make a

simulation study. (12 hours)

 Mathematical models, the solution algorithm, programming and analyzing the

results. (12 hours)
