Autism Training for the Vietnamese Community

This pilot training is designed for professionals working with children in the Vietnamese community in King
County.

Training objectives and topics


In this pilot training, participants will:
● Gain a basic understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), its evaluation and diagnosis.
● Understand the ways ASD affects families.
● Gain an understanding of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), referral resources beneficial to children
with ASD, the role of the Developmental Disabilities Council, Washington State and insurance rights of
families.
● Learn about the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers-Revised (MCHAT-R) and its use.
● Review and evaluation of a Vietnamese translation of MCHAT-R for cultural and linguistic
appropriateness.

Who should attend:


Primary care providers, Pediatricians, Dentists, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Medical Interpreters, Pharmacists,
Therapists (Speech and Language, Occupational, Physical, Mental Health, and others), Psychologists,
Psychiatrists, and other health care professionals who care for Vietnamese families.

When:
Saturday February 23, 2019 from 8 AM to 2 PM

Delridge Community Center, 4501 Delridge Way SW, Seattle, WA 98106. Tel: (206) 684-7423.
Parking is available in the community center parking lot and adjacent streets.

Cost: FREE
Breakfast and Lunch will be provided

CME Category II Credit: 5 hours
