a) Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice (PQF level 6 descriptor);

2. Based on CMO 24, Series 2005 (Program Outcomes of BS in Industrial Technology major in Automotive Technology)
f) Train students in application of principles, methods and techniques in trouble shooting repair and maintenance of different kinds of automotive vehicles as well as in diagnosing and
determining vehicles condition, to include power flow and control unit;
g) Develop basic manipulation skills in overhauling and precise measurement of engine system and components;
h) Acquire and practice the basic knowledge, skills and right attitude road courtesy in driving motor vehicles.

VIII. Course Description: This is a course in shop work which gives the students specialized training in the manipulative skills in the use of mechanics hand tools and simple machines. It designed to
familiarize the students in a broad perspective with the principle on operation of internal combustion engine, parts of complete engine and location design. It also identifies the competence
required in servicing cooling, lubricating. Fuel system and diesel fuel injector. The students are given complete training from the fundamental skills in the more advanced requirements of the
technology in order to qualify him as a skilled worker or teachers of skilled trade. This training will serve as a basis upon which he would be able to make a start in a technology witrh full
understanding of it.
IX. Course credit/Unit: 3 units ?– 15 hours per week lecture (3 hours lecture and 12 hours laboratory. (Indicate the total units, for lecture/laboratory course indicate the number of units for lecture
and laboratory.)

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:
1. acquaint the learner with the field of automotive repair, servicing, and maintenance and prepare him to enter trade of gainful employment;

3. develop the habit of cleanliness, promptness, and accurate while working and to observe safety work habits;
4. learn the principles of operation, construction, parts and function of automotive engine and each systems; and
5. instill in the minds of the learner of a desirable attitudes towards working with others

Absences for which medical or court excuse is provided will be recorded but not figured in the attendance grade. Likewise, an absence for which advance notice is given by phone or in
person will not be figured in attendance grade if he presents a valid excuse letter upon coming back to class. Tardiness or early departure from class will be figured as a half absence. A student
who has ten (10) hours successive unexcused absences will be dropped from the course. Behavior is graded to the observation of the instructor.

XV. CLASSROOM RULES OF CONDUCT


a. No cellular phones or music players are allowed inside the shop room while the instruction is going on
b. Eating inside the shop room is prohibited.
c. Fifteen minutes late is considered absent but the student is allowed to attend the class.
d. Proper behavior is expected inside the classroom.
e. Writing on tables, chairs and walls are punishable.
f. Electric fans must be used properly.
g. Tools should be cleaned and kept before leaving the shop.
h. Engine week-up must be arranged properly before leaving the shop.

XVI. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

a. Inform the instructor right away if accidents happen in the course of the activity.
b. Apply first aid to the casualties

d. Bring the casualties to the nearest hospital if needed
e. Evacuation procedures – instructions are posted in some areas that can be seen right away.

Do not take for granted this course. Always be reminded that Automotive is being included in the curriculum because it is as important as to the other subjects. This course is an avenue to
discover yourself that you have abilities and talents that will make you a successful person someday. Don’t be shy. Concentrate on your lesson or work. Attend your class regularly. Perform your
project or laboratory work.
