Dear future host family:

My name is Raúl, I'm 27 years old and I'm from Chile. Currently living in Spain. Let me tell you
something about my land. I was born in Rengo, I grew up in this sunny and quiet place, with plenty of
mountains and good people. I lived there with my parents and my only brother until 2017. In
September of that year, I moved to Barcelona to study a Master of Music Therapy.

I lived away from home during 7 years when I studied ( Valparaiso and Santiago) before come to B . It
has given me the opportunity to meet many people of different places and live with different people
too. Being away from home and deal with very different people has helped me to mature and grow as a
person.

What can I tell you about myself I am a responsible, nice, really patient and empathic. In my daily
routine, I’m organized, resolute and dynamic. I enjoy having quality time with my family, friends. I
love animals. In fact, I have been a volunteer in an animal protection association where neglected dogs
are cared for 2 years. In addition, I am a person who wants to do many things, I like to discover new
things: people, places, cultures.

I like traveling, I believe that it's a good way to meet new people if you travel alone or you could know
better your friends if you travel with them. I enjoy dancing, mostly Latin or trending music. However, I
usually listen to different musical styles and I love attending concerts too. I like reading and doing
crafts in my relax time. Also, I use to playing sports both in gym as outside, in the beach or other nature
places.

I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts. As I'm a music teacher I have had
experience working with children from 3 years to adult people after my graduation. Also I've done
several internships with children in different contexts where we did indoor and outdoor activities: we
sang, danced, played games, role played, drew, painted, and narrated stories. We also visited the public
library, the local animal park, went out on picnics and a camping trip. Currently part of being student I
work given music lesson to private students, my younger student is 3 and my older one is 80 and also I
have a down’syndrome student who is 6 , another job I have is being voluntary in a Disability mental
center where basically I take care of disable people in works such a feeding, shower, entertainment,
medication etc. and my last job that I got is doing music therapy as assistant in a program that receive
disability people for participating and seen the rehearsal of the orchestra of Barcelona.
The reason why I decided to do this is the pleasure of making an adventure in another country in a
family atmosphere, which I really value. I am really excited with this opportunity, I know that to live
with your children and with you, in a different country like USA, will increase my personal background
and I'll learn a lot. Likewise, I'd love to become a part of your family.

All of the best,

Raul Celis Maturana

Dear Family,

My name is Raul, I am a 27 year-old Chilean student. Although I currently live in Barcelona Spain,
where I am forth month short of completing my master studies in Music Therapy at Superior Music
School of Catalonia (ESMUC), I actually come from Rengo , it's a small town (approximately 50,830
inhabitants), and is situated next to the Andes.

I come from a family of 3: My parents, Raul and Marcela, are self employed, my father works with my
brother in a accounting firm and my mom works making and repairing cloths. I have only one brother
who is older than me. He is 36 years old and is engineer in company administration.

In about a year or two I plan to live in an English country for working. So, at the moment, I would like
to take some time out of academics to have a different life experience and learning as much English as I
can , and to have time to calmly reflect on my future academic/professional orientation. To this end, I
think spending a year abroad would be particularly interesting.

My first language is Spanish, and I am also speak Catalan. Because of living in Catalonia. I started
learning English in one and half years ago mainly by myself, I've taken some short courses as well .
So, in order to really be at ease in English, I feel that a cultural immersion would do me a lot of good.
Through my girlfriend I have learned a bit about how the life is in USA. Since she is from Boston I had
had the opportunity of spending time in USA . I am particularly interested in experiencing family life in
England, since it offers a cultural context th
at is undoubtedly different from mine. For this reason, I would very much like to find a nice family to
live with and work for in England.

When it comes to child care experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal
contexts. As I'm a music teacher I have had experience working with children from 3 years to adult
people after my graduation. Also I've done several internships with children in different contexts where
we did indoor and outdoor activities: we sang, danced, played games, role played, drew, painted, and
narrated stories. We also visited the public library, the local animal park, went out on picnics and a
camping trip. Currently part of being a studding I work given music lesson to private students, my
younger student is 3 and my older one is 80 and also I have a down syndrome's student who is 6 ,
another job I have is being voluntary in a Disability mental center where basically I take care of disable
people in works such a feeding, shower, entertainment, medication etc. and my last job that I got is
doing music therapy as an assistant in a program that receive disabled people for participating and seen
the rehearsal of the orchestra of Barcelona.

I can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children.

When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, dancing,
being with my friends, going for walks, visiting places I have not been to, and reading a good book. I
also enjoy teaching dance, languages , instruments , playing music , cooking.

As far as preferences are concerned, I am looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family, that
would be happy to have me stay with and work for them for at least 6 months. I would also prefer
looking after children aged between 6 months to 10 years. Lastly, although I am quite flexible, I would
prefer to have working hours that would allow me to attend English language classes.

I would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you: to answer whatever questions you may
have about me or my childcare experiences; to learn more about your family; your interests and to
know more about what you expect from the au pair arrangement.

Thank you very much for your interest in my application!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

Raul Celis Maturana
