My Story: Journey to becoming a teacher
A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart, teacher creates other
profession and teacher is a role model of nation. Without teacher our world become
nothing. Entering college life is not a joke. You need is to have patience, money to support
your needs, and of course the support from your family and love ones. It is a wasting of
time if you did not give your heart and life in that profession.
elementary and high school days. But when I finish my high school my parents decide my
course and that is the world of teaching. Suddenly my world become worst and my dreams
become nightmare.
short, I want to give up. As the time pass after a few months I’ve met my friends and best
friends. We are in same situation because it’s also a parent’s choice, we share everything.
In that way I pursue this course and start to like and love. For my 4 years in this course I’ve
experience a lot especially observing in real life situation of teaching. I’ve met different
pupils and it make me realized that pupils call you a teacher is pleasure.
And now I really thankful for my parents because they knows best for me. This
coming March 2019 I hope I will graduate and I strive more to make my parents proud.
Being a teacher is not easy, it needs a long process and patience, but at the end you will not
Teaching is a truly unique, incredible job. One with so many nuances that it can be hard to
really explain what it’s like to people who haven’t done it before. This profession need to go on the
process of training to develop themselves professionally in order to raise the standard of student
learning.
As I enter the gate of KCES-1 I feel nervous at the same time scared. I don’t know what to do.
Being on job training at Koronadal Central elementary School -1.We laugh, we get angry and
scared. We see the most amazing growth and success. But most of all we care. I enjoy helping
pupils to understand. The greatest reward is seeing the light bulb of understanding flicker on in the
brains of my students, when they finally understand and know the formulas of volume and surface
Behaviour management is one of the most important factors, but can also be the
toughest within an educational setting. There are many reasons that behaviour needs to be
managed; to create a classroom setting where learning can flourish and the children need
to feel successful, to allow the children to feel safe, to have and gain respect, and to teach
the children about socially appropriate and acceptable behaviour. However, it is important
for teachers to consider the style they approach certain situations in order to gain the correct
behaviour management. For example, (Hook and Vass, no date, p.9) state that effective
teachers approach behaviour with a very positive attitude. It is important that you
emphasise more on positive statements rather than negative, the use of praise and rewards,
and to highlight on their success rather than highlighting when they make mistakes. If a
child is talking and not paying attention, some teachers may approach this situation by
saying “can you stop talking and pay attention please?” However, a more positive outlook
to this situation can be “I need you to choose to face the front and listen to me. Thanks”
This is focusing more on what they should be doing, rather than what they are doing wrong.
Observation and Participation
Classroom management is a learning process for both the teacher and the students.
For the teacher it is what he/she does to prepare the lesson, the learning environment, and
the students for learning. For the student, it is the challenge of complying with the standards
set by the teacher. Many students do not always know how to control their behavior, as at
home, it is a common theme for parents to be frustrated by their youngsters’ lack of ability
to manage their own behavior. Therefore the goal of classroom management should be to
help students develop and shape their character, as well as to promote self-discipline.
As I observed in Grade six, teacher Sheila is a good teacher she always aware that
proper classroom discipline requires skills different from that of teaching skills. These
skills include patience, respect, good role modeling, a firm attitude, control of anger, and
consistency. When she handling misbehavior, she will make sure that all students learn
what is unacceptable about that behavior. Getting angry or stressed does not reduce future
misbehavior.

21st Century Teaching strategies
Reflection
As teachers, we keep on talking about the 21st century skills our students need to
acquire. But as I reflect on this how can our students acquire these skills if we, the teachers,
don’t have the necessary skills and abilities in order for us to pass it to our students. As
Brene Brown said “We cannot give our children what we don’t have.”
Teachers nowadays are being trained to cope with the society’s fast growing
technology to be able to face challenges and demands of the 21st century education.

assessments can be used to make important as it relate to instructional practices. For example, if a

teacher can then adjust their instruction to meet the needs of their students.

worth of the teacher and serves the national curriculum goals, but also represent flexible
Nowadays, most of the students are the happy-go-lucky types who do not regard
education as their priority. They’d rather bum around in malls or stay glued to computers.
As a result, most graduates are half-baked, who can’t even write or speak good English,
Two more years in the basic education curriculum will make it harder for the
children of the poor to pursue their education, due to financial and time constraints. And
is going to be burdensome for the family, even if it is part of the free education in our
country. There are many expenses that the family will have to bear, like the allowance
and baon, plus transportation fare of pupils and students, if the family is far from school.
I think it would be better if the government will provide our schools over the
country with more well-trained teachers, books, classrooms, chairs, and all our needs
before and two years to the basic education curriculum. We are not yet ready for it. The
