• Clean the rim thoroughly

• Ensure that the rim is placed with the three-sided groove on the top
with the plug assembled

• Lift and place the tire assembly on the top of the rim so that it just sits
on the outer edge of the rim assembly – TIRE NUMBER SHOULD
FACE DOWN !

• The first inner edge of the tire is now to be pushed onto the rim.
• This is normally done by using a hammer since the inner edges of the
tire are reinforced with metal ply to give strength to the tire and prevent
collapsing
• Take care while using the hammer so as not to damage the inner edge
of the tire as this will cause air/water leak and CANNOT be repaired,
leading to replacement of the tire itself–USE 4/8 LBS HAMMER

• Use 4/8 Lbs. hammer to push the inner edge of tire on to the rim
assembly. DO IT SLOWLY !

• Turn the tire/rim assembly on to it’s other side
• We are now ready to push the second inner edge of the tire into the rim
assembly

• Use a long tire lever with a flat
end and force a part of the edge
of the tire into the rim.
• Use a second tire lever and
repeat the above step about 6” to
8” away from the first lever.
• Remove the first tire lever and
repeat the above in steps until
the tire edge is fully seated inside
the rim edge.

• STEP: The tire is now being
seated inside the rim edge
• The procedure is repeated a
number of times to fully set
the tire inside the rim
• Usually two levers are
required to do this job

• After the tire is fully inside the rim, press the inner edge further inside to
ensure complete sealing
• This will also ensure that if any part of the tire is turned out, the same
will now be fully seated / set

• After the tire is assembled it is
made vertical and is then rolled for
a few feet
• This ensures proper seating of the
tire
• There should be an off-set
between the bottom portion and
the top portion of the rim

• To push the inner edge flush
with the groove in the rim, firstly
a long tire lever is used to hold
open one side of the tire as
shown in the snap.

• Once the inner edge is held, another short tire lever is now used the
tap the inner surface of the inner edge on the other side of the tire

• After the inner edge of the
tire is seated flush with the
outer groove on the rim,
check the tire assembly
again to see if the seating is
proper.
• If this is not done any air
gaps will lead to leak of both
water and air.

• The tire is now to be put on an incline – against a wall – this is to
ensure that the weight of the tire pushes on the rim groove, thereby
providing for good sealing prior to inflating the tire for proper seating

and continue to fill the high
pressure air to 35 PSI
• We are using this procedure due
to availability of high pressure air.

• When the tire is inflated to 35 PSI, this ensures that the tire is seated
flush with the groove on the rim and is fully sealed
• The air non-return valve is now to be inserted
