Operation Process

Version 1, January 23, 2019

1- Mixing
a. Open (V1 or V2), V8, V5, and V25. Engage the Jet pump to send 4 bbl of
Mix fluid to the mixing tank.
 Should show on the screen 40% full
 It is better to set the water rate while adding the water

b. Open V23 and V24. Engage Recirculation Pump to start water

circulation.
 Visually Make sure that circulation is initiated and the paddles
are rotating and make sure the densitometer is reading (1 SG)

c. Open The manual cement valve and make sure that the electronic
cement valve is 15 % to 20 % open.
d. Instruct the operator to first flush the lines with air and check if the lines
are blocked by noticing the cement dust.
e. Instruct the operator to start giving you cement.
 Best practice should be cement valve in banana ½ open and air
valve ¼ open.
f. Instruct the operator to close the cement valve and flush the lines with
air only when you are about (0.01 SG) digits away from required density.
g. Circulate the slurry for 1 to 2 minutes to homogenize the slurry before
taking sample to test using Pressurized mud balance.
 Add mix fluid if density is above target, by opening V25
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

 If Density is fluctuating add deformer to mixing tank.

h. Check density by using pressurized mud balance. Allowable density

fluctuation should be ONLY (+/- 0.02 SG).
i. IF density is accurate and the rig is ready to start pumping cement
slurry, instruct the operator to give you cement and open V25 to start
filling up the averaging tank.
 Fill up the averaging tank to 40% to 50% before you start
circulating and pumping using the front triplex.
 Try to fix the mix fluid rate and only change the electronic cement
valve to get the required density.
j. Open V18, V17, V15 and V11. Engage the Boosting pump and put the
triplex on gear and start pumping and circulating the averaging tank at
the same time.
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

k. While pumping keep the density steady by changing the cement valve
and keeping the water rate constant.
 Try to keep the averaging tank level constant at around 50% and
make sure the paddles are working to help keep the slurry
homogeneous.
 Changing the mix fluid rate will change the averaging tank level.
l. When you reach the last (1 bbl) of the last mix fluid tank ask the
operator to close the cement valve and clean the hoses by blowing only
air through them.
m. When all the mix fluid has been used Close V25 and the cement manual
butterfly valve.
 Stop the paddles from spinning in the averaging tank.
n. When the level on the averaging tank reaches 30% Close V15 to stop
circulating.
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

o. When the Slurry level reaches 0% in the averaging tank Open V22 and
close V18 and V24. Disengage the recirculation pump.
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

p. Monitor the mixing tank level constantly, When the level reaches 0%
throttle down and shift the triplex gear to neutral.

2- Washing Unit

a. Fill the displacement tanks with Fresh water.

b. Open V1, V2, V8, V5, V25. Engage the jet pump to fill both The mixing
and averaging tanks up to 70%.
c. Close V25 and Open V23, V24, V18, V17, V15 and engage the
Recirculation pump and Boosting pump.

d. Open V11, and Engage the triplex on gear 2 to empty the averaging
tank.
e. Use the Hose to clean and wash the inside walls from any cement.
 Throttle up with throttle B for higher Pressure
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

f. Open V14 and Close the circulating valve V15, and manual butterfly
valve below V14.

g. Open the manual Valve, V11, V9, and V16. Close V14 to clean the gravity
line leading to the Boosting Pump.
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

h. Open V14. Close V16 and V9 to empty the averaging tank.

i. Use a hammer to open the mixing system and then use the water hose
thoroughly clean the area where the dry cement falls into the vacuum
system.
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

j. After emptying the averaging tank, Close V14, V18 and V24. Open V22
and manual butterfly valve.
 Don’t empty mixing tank Keep 40%
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

k. Close V17, V22 and both manual butterfly valves for the circulation in
the mixing tank, Open V24 and V21.

l. Make sure tanks are clean by using the hose and adding water. Tanks
must be spotless and clean.
 Keep adding water and washing both tanks if needed.
m. Open V1, V2, V7, V16, V22, V24, V21, and V12. Engage Recirculation
pump.
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

n. Close V12, and V21. Open the two manual valves for cement circulation
and fill the Circulation 5 %
 Check visually that it is clean.

o. Open V11, V17, Close V24, and V22. Engage Boosting pump. Disengage
Recirculation Pump.
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

p. Open V14, V11, and close V12 and the manual valve under it.

q. Close V14, V11 and send water to averaging tub.

 Fill to 5%, make sure flow is clean.
Operation Process
Version 1, January 23, 2019

r. Close V16 and Open V9. Disengage The Boosting Pump. And engage the
triplex (A) in gear (2).
 Open the return line to the displacement tank to make sure the
line is clean.

s. Shift Triplex (A) to neutral, and Open V10 and close V9. Engage Triplex
(B) to gear (2)
 Open the return line to the displacement tank to make sure the
line is clean.
