ANTACIDS

Introduction

Antacids are well known in the community as ulcer drugs, What exactly is antacid?
Antacids are drugs used to neutralize stomach acid or bind them. Used to treat
gastrointestinal diseases caused by stomach acid, such as ulcers in the oesophageal, stomach
or intestines with symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. But not many
people are also aware of the use of good antacid drugs.

Body

"Gastritis is a disease the stomach is the most widely found in community. Almost
everyone ever suffer from this disease, both acute Gastritis or chronic. Every day we often
find people who come for treatment with complaints in the gastrointestinal tract on; eg pain
or heat in the epigastric region, nausea, sometimes accompanied vomiting, heartburn,
flatulence, feeling satiated. Usually a complaint which the patient submitted is mild and can
be overcome by arranging food, but sometimes felt heavy, so he had to ask for help doctors
even have to be given special care "(Nadi S, 1998).

Ulcer disease is one of the most common diseases in the community, therefore the
community needs to know about ulcer disease and drug use In the treatment of gastritis
usually used single therapy, but there is some who use therapy combination of 2 types of
drugs. Usually that medicine used in combination therapy is given based on the degree of
gastritis. Many patients who can be cured with the above mentioned treatment, but many also
difficult to cure,

There are 2 types of preparations, namely tablets and syrup, in one tablespoon (5 ml)
or one tablet contains:

 Alluminium Hydroxide: 200 mg


 Magnesium Hydroxide: 200 mg (ISO vol 47, 2012)

Dosage and How to Use

Antacids are taken by mouth, for chewable tablets before they are swallowed, while
the liquid doen antacids, bottles must be shaken before drinking.

Dose:

Adults: 3 - 4 times daily 1 - 2 tablets or 1 - 2 tablespoons of suspension (syrup);


Children 6 - 12 years: 3 - 4 times daily ½ - 1 tablet or ½-1 scoop suspension.
Drinking Time:

One hour before eating, or two hours after eating, and before bed. Stop when symptoms are

Conclusion

Maag is a disease that is widely found in the community therefore needs knowledge about the
use of medicines Antacids are drugs to neutralize acid stomach acid, antacids are in the form
of tablets and syrup generally the use of antacids ie 3 -4 times per liter or tea spoon of tea ..
