someone who is a visitor in your country.

WRITING

Written Exercise I

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a 3-paragraph descriptive essay advising a visitor

to your country about stores. Consider the following questions:

 Where could s/he go shopping for clothes?

 Where could s/he eat?
 What kind of transportation could s/he get?

STOP!!!!!!: Do not forget to write a conclusion. ;-)

NOTE: Use the following as a sample 3-paragraph essay.

If you are coming to Houston, Texas, USA, make sure you consider the
following information for shopping, eating and transportation.

First, if you want to do your shopping you could go to the malls around
the city. They are not the cheapest places to buy, but sometimes you can get
items on sale, and you can save a lot of money. On the other hand, if you
want lower prices and you want to bargain, you can go to the “flee market”.
There, the prices are better, but you do not usually get the best quality.
Second, if you feel hungry, there are many places where you can eat. In my
opinion the cheapest places to eat when you do not have too much money are
the fast food restaurants like Mc. Donald’s, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell, and
others. Places like Denny’s, Wendy’s, Friday’s Night, Papasitos, Mamasitas
have very delicious food but they are more expensive than fast food
restaurants. Finally, transportation is a little complicated. The cheapest and
best transportation is a rental car. You could take a bus, but the service is
very limited to most areas; it is more for the downtown area. A taxi is another
option. It is comfortable and the easiest to get, but it is also the most
expensive.

Consequently, when you come to Houston, decide carefully what you

want and how much money you would like to spend. The options are there
depending on your needs.
