The instructions are written for smallest size.
If changes are necessary for larger sizes the
instructions will be written thus ( ). Numbers
for each size are shown in the same color
throughout the pattern. When only one number
is given in black, it applies to all sizes.

Note: Cardigan is worked in one piece to

armholes.

BODY
With A, and smaller hook, ch 151 (167-183-
211-227-259).
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc
in each ch to end of chain. 150 (166-182-210-
226-258 ) sc. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of
row. Turn.
Rep last row 5 times more, joining MC at end
of last row. Break A.

Change to larger hook and proceed as follows:

1st row: (WS). Ch 4. (Yoh and draw up a loop.

Rep last row twice more.

from * to last 0 (4-1-1-3-3) sc. (2 sc in next sc) 0

Change to larger hook and proceed as follows:

sc. 1 sc in next sc. Ch 2. Miss next sc. 1 dc in last

2nd row: Ch 4 (counts as dc and ch 1). Cluster
in first ch-2 sp. Ch 1. *(1 sc. Ch 3. Cluster) in next
ch-3 sp. Ch 1. Rep from * to last turning ch sp.
(1 sc. Ch 2. 1 dc) in last turning ch sp. Turn.
Rep 2nd row for pat until work from beg
measures 13½ (13½-13-13-12½-12½)" [34.5
(34.5-33-33-32-32) cm], ending with a WS
row. Place markers at each end of last row.
Work a further 2 (4-4-6-8-10) rows in pat.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeve seams to
markers. Sew in sleeves placing rows above
markers along un-worked sts at armholes to
form square armholes.
Neckband: 1st row: (RS). With smaller hook,
join A with sl st at corner of Right Front neck
edge. Ch 1. Work sc evenly across neck edge to
corner of Left Front neck edge. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row.
Turn.
Rep last row 3 times more. Fasten off.
Buttonhole Band: 1st row: (RS). With smaller
hook, join A with sl st at lower corner of Right
Front. Ch 1. Work 78 (81-83-83-86-86) sc
evenly up front edge to top of neckband. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row.
Turn.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 3 (2-3-3-2-2)
sc. *Ch 2. Miss next 2 sc. 1 sc in each of next 12
(13-13-13-14-14) sc. Rep from * 4 times more.
Ch 2. Miss next 2 sc. 1 sc in each of last 3 (2-3-
3-2-2) sc. Turn.
4th and 5th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc and 2 sc
in each ch-2 sp to end of row. Turn.
Fasten off at end of 5th row.
Button Band: 1st row: (RS). With smaller
hook, join A with sl st at corner of Left Front
neckband. Ch 1. Work 78 (81-83-83-86-86) sc
evenly down front edge to lower edge. Turn.
Work as for Buttonhole Band along Left Front
edge omitting all references to buttonholes.
Sew on buttons to correspond to buttonholes.
