Caleo
There are two temperature-sensors connected to the sensor-box of the Caleo. What
are the functions of these sensors
measures the core-temperature of the neonate
used for skin temperature control
ThermoMonitoring
By comparing these values we can deduce cold stress, heat stress and infections.
The value between these two sensors is important.
ThermoMonitoring–cold stress
A neonate gets cold stress when its not possible for him to compensate the loss of
energy by a colder ambient temperature.
To recognize this very early, you can use the thermomonitoringfunction of the
Caleo. The body tries to hold the body temperature stable at 37 °C.First the
extremities getting colder.
If the ambient temperature is too high, it could happen that the neonate is
overheated.
The central body temperature and the temperature of the extremities increase, but
the temperature of the extremities goes up first
Display
Kangaroomode
when the baby is removed to have direct skin contact with the mother or father
("Kangarooing")
This mode provides the user with extended monitoring functions in order to detect
overheating and overcooling of the patient even when the patient is outside the
patient capsule.
