ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY

 We use them to express how often we do something.

a) Adverbs:
+ ALWAYS – siempre
USUALLY, NORMALLY – normalmente, usualmente
OFTEN – a menudo, frecuentemente
SOMETIMES – a veces
OCCASIONALLY – ocasionalmente
RARELY / SELDOM (F En.) – rara vez, raramente
HARDLY EVER – casi nunca
- NEVER – nunca

b) Position:

1. Verb to be: AFTER the verb


e.g. She is always late.

2. Other verbs: BEFORE the verb

e.g. She always gets angry with her brother

3. Verbs in negative / interrogative: before the main verb.

e.g. I don’t always make dinner.

e.g. Do you usually walk to school?

*** OTHER:

-Expressions such as every day/ week/ month / year / Tuesday,


etc, or once a day / week / month / year, etc. usually go at the
end of the sentence.

e.g. I go to London for Christmas every year.
