Mindspace
Mindspace Non-profit Ltd. was founded in 2011 and deals with cultural urban projects, focusing
on smart city and sustainability through participation and gamification. Our main projects:
Budapest in 100 words (since 2014)
A story-writing project, where all citizens can tell their own story connected to their city, in
maximum 100 words. A 3-member jury selects the best 100, the best 12 and the best 3 works
from the submissions. The best 12 pieces get illustrated by Hungarian graphic designers and
are exhibited at the public gallery event. At the awards ceremony, the participants can view the
top stories with their illustrations and also listen to the three of the best 12 works read while
accompanied by a musical composition. In 2016 the project will be implemented in the Visegrad
capitals as well with local partners.

Shared Cities: Creative Momentum is a European cultural platform addressing the urban
challenges of contemporary European cities. In an international cooperation of 11 partners from
six different countries numerous events, programmes and researches will be implemented
between 2016 and 2019. The project is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the
European Union, the Hungarian partners are Contemporary Architecture Centre and Mindspace.
SHARED CITIES: Creative Momentum (SCCM) is on a mission to improve the quality of life in
European cities. By exploring aspects of sharing and urban design we are creating new ways of
living in our cities. Together.
Living in the city, we’re used to sharing – green spaces, bus seats, even the air we breathe. We
know that sharing a car or a flat can make it worthwhile. Instead of owning a bike we can rent
one, too. Sharing has become a part of our urban life.
Shared Cities: Creative Momentum brings together eleven organisations from Belgrade, Berlin,
Bratislava, Budapest, Katowice, Prague and Warsaw to create a space for architecture, art,
urbanism and the sharing economy and to contribute to the transformation of urban life.
By sharing ideas, state-of-the art best practices and building networks Shared Cities: Creative
Momentum assists these Central European cities in finding innovative ways of urban planning
and policy-making. Another ambition of the project is to show urban citizens that their
participation and cooperation is essential for creating a pleasant and valuable urban
environment.
From 2016 to 2020 more than 150 activities introducing innovative ways in urban planning and
enhancing the participation of citizens take place: festivals, films, exhibitions, artists’ residencies
or case studies. Architects and citizens design their ideal city. Artists and the public in Berlin
devise radical new forms of street furniture. A new digital map is created in Katowice to portray
(in)formal actors in cultural and creative industries. Bratislava researches new strategies for
reviving underutilized communist era buildings. Budapest tests ways how NGOs can
reinvigorate a former industrial area…
The project is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, the
Hungarian partners are Contemporary Architecture Centre and Mindspace.

In the beginning from our internship we explored the district in a way we call ‘District VIII through fresh eyes’.
During this exploration we studied the district through our own eyes, with an open minded view. We wrote down
all of
the noticeable findings, which varied between different styles of architecture, public spaces, infrastructure and
human behavior. By doing this exploration at the beginning of our internship we gained a certain view about the
district, which wasn’t influenced by third persons, which mainly focussed on the physical elements of the
district.
After this orientation we had a slim view about the district. But we knew of course that we needed some more
background information. This is why we did a small research about the history of Budapest and district VIII.
This is when we understood more of the origin of the district and about some important events that happened in
the city and the district - especially at the end of the second world war and the 1956 revolution - which
explained a lot about the rough and diverse character of the district.

An urban diary takes advantage of what many of us are already doing with our cameras and
smartphones: recording what we see, and what we like or dislike, about urban change. By
harnessing this visual information, residents, city employees and decision-makers can be better
equipped to plan cities and respond to urban change.

Imagine the world as a street ordered by income. Everyone lives somewhere on the street. The
poorest lives to the left and the richest to the right. Everybody else live somewhere in between.

során is használni kezdték. 2011-ben Izrael jövőképének, jövő víziójának megalkotása során
többek között Tel Aviv főterén több mint 10 000 állampolgár vett részt a kis asztalcsoportos
